I'm guessing that this is a 1963 model and it could have the very first Mini-Basket.

Robert,

If the New York guys don't want it, I'll rescue it. After all, I *DO* need to diversify.

Thanks,
Rich

It's a 1963, should have mini-basket, but not the first year. Mini-basket was introduced in 1962.

As you know I'm close by in Connecticut and this is one of my DREAM MACHINES!!!

This is a GE WA 1050W!!! It's a 1962 V-12 TOL and the very first GE Filter-Flo to feature a mini-basket. It's the same year as the first GE's I ever saw, the ones I grew up with. Same color combo, Black with stamped chrome. Black activator with white filter pan and mini-basket. But, as usual with all the GE's I'm seeing, it's has a small anomaly: the bleach dispenser in the front of the cabinet has the design of the 1963 model. I'm betting this beauty was probably assembled in Louisville at the end of the model year. Don't know why they changed the design, the old one was cool--you had to hand pump the amound of bleach you wanted injected into the wash. Maybe CU criticized it? Oh I'd so love to get this! Thank you so much for bringing it to our attention.

I used to live in Bayside, Queens just a few minutes away from Flushing, Queens. Looks like a beautiful machine.

OMG that is where I grew up just outside of Flushing, Queens NYC. The area is a short distance away from my current address and I still have family there! (First one who cracks a "The Nanny" joke gets a *SMACK*)

I aboslutely can't do a thing for myself, and don't have a truck to boot, So I hope one of you guys gets it!

But I wll do this: If anyone wants it I can keep it im my garage until about June 20, 2007. I realy don't have a way to retrieve it for the future owner. Perhaps the current owner is willing to deliver it?

Please write to me if I can be of service.

Best regards,
Steve

That's an amazingly nice machine. That was the oldest style I'd ever seen prior to seeing Robert's 1958 solid tub one. I remember being thrown when I first saw that one because the agitation was "too slow" compared to what I was accustomed to in a GE. LOL

Post# 207524 , Reply# 18   4/30/2007 at 21:47 (6,177 days old) by westytoploader ()

And I can barely see a round-hole Mini-Basket in there too, I wonder if it's the original? I do hope someone saves this great machine and gives it the proper TLC it deserves. It WOULD look quite nice next to a certain 1990 GE, or take the place of a certain leaky combination, you both know who you are...;-)

Actually, the owner responded to me right away - although the reply was just urging me to make an offer and that she would respond to all offers. I do think however that as much as I might want that machine, I am not sure I can justify those prices - especially when you consider shipping as well. At the risk of sounding unreasonable however, if people have already been offering her over
$1,000, then we have no business laughing at people who offer crappy washers on e-bay for ridiculous prices. Most do not understand why we like any washers in the first place, so how the average person discern collectible from junk?

Also, while I appreciate these things (and would offer up to a certain amount), I am not all that sure I always agree with these prices - just trying to keep a perspective on value. But everyone defines value differently.

I had a similar response from the seller, and I also offered a grand - which is quite a stretch considering I'd have to transport it to Atlanta. No response from the seller so far. I have a suspicion that at least one person might have offered to top her best offer regardless, which does confound the situation. Hopefully, we will know soon who the "winner" is. Good luck to all interested parties!

private sale vs ebay

these private sales generate more $$$$$$ and better offers than ebay ..............

The last word I had from the seller was that they would "repond to all offers" - but I've not heard a word since Wednesday. Judging by the above posts, mine wasn't the highest offer, but neither has the seller kept her word to respond. Has anyone else actually received a response?
