Today on my way home from working at the Horticulture farm, my eye spotted a dryer on the front porch of this old farm house. I stopped and low and behold it was an Early GE V-12 dryer. I knocked on the door and asked if the old lady who lived there if the dryer was for sale. She said you can have it for $50.00. Well, lets just say that dryer is now safely in my arms. Thought you'd all like to see her.

It just goes to show you, always keep you eyes peeled for machines. They are out there, and this one was 5 miles from my house. YAY!!!

What an excellent find! The unexpected ones are the best, aren't they? It appears to be in great shape, too. Congrats!

Fully lit console

I looked at the schematics and it has a full flourescent lit control panel with drum light and all. Yay for the good designs of yesteryear!

Congratulations on a beautiful find. It's a DA-920W, second down from TOL. Just gorgeous. I'm black and chrome with envy. BTW, these dryers are very fast and very quiet.

Congratulations Graham! Great catch!
You must have a huge basement, or a very full one by now. <:

That is a beautiful dryer. Could I ask for closeups of the control panel?

Ken, if this aws 2nd from TOL dryer, what did the TOL look like and how did it differ in features. I pretty much figured out waht the washer differences would be

The TOL is the one featured in Thread #11597. From 1960 to 1963 the GE TOL's all had the same large double-bezel inset control panels with 5 wash programs. Here's a bad fax from the 1962 GE showcase-book:

What I'm VERY curious about is what the 1961 V line looked like. All I have is a very bad fax that is missing the 800 and the 500 models. If anyone has any literature or brochures, I'd be very grateful if you would post them or email them to me.

Excellent find - it looks mint! How does it run? I always thought GE dryers were very nice running machines, fast & quiet. Congrats on another great find.
