John had told me the early Bendix boots were different and he is correct. I actually like the earlier boots better as they make a larger opening but the later boots with the LIP that snags everything actually helps stop the infamous "BendixDoorDrip" that plagued the machine.

But we can't all eat salad all the time, so to have new boots that work is just fine with me even if they come with snaggle lips!

See the photographic evidence below and enjoy!

Thank you, Jon

This is interesting about how a small change can make a big difference.

About salads, I think I shouldn't say!

But the burning question is... Will the later boots fit the earlier machines??

I measured tonight!

They ARE different sizes on the stampings on the cabinets to my HUGE surprise!

The 1955 machine is 11 3/8 from roll to roll.
The 1958 machine is 11 3/4 from roll to roll.!

The new boots don't fit the older machines I tried on one tonight!

I know that to change those stampings cost alot of money even back then. And to boot ( no pun intended) because of the boot style the older machine actually has a larger opening for loading and unloading.

It's funny as I did find another Bendix boot that was for "older" bendix in the parts literature over in England so I ordered one this time around along with the other boots just to see what the difference might be.

They haven't arrived yet but when they do its going straight down to the basement to the 1955 machine!!!

How could they!!

Great pictures Jon. I was afraid that the newer style boots would not fit the early Duomatics. Keep us posted on this replacment boot from the UK. I'm am very curious.
