I got a kick out of the James dishwasher ad that appears as the picture of the day today (May 31). "Only James washes the dishes 513 times." Presumably, other models only wash the dishes a mere 512 times...

If I could get James to come over and wash my dishes, I wouldn't need the machine.

Pity the James company patents didn't survive. Seems like a good system for those apartment-sized 18" dishwashers; better than the squished 24" square design.

The design survived to be used in the Ling Tempco dishwashers and you are right, it would be far more effective at covering an 18 X 24 inch tank. The filter holes in the tube surrounding the twisted blade that threw the water were not that fine so maybe some alternate would need to be found. It might be possible to convert the water distribution pattern to spray jets on a wash arm from a recirculating pump & filter system with a water-powered motor to turn the wash arm back and forth similar to the back and forth lawn sprinklers. The steam generator that fogged the load essentially gave the last part of the rinse the properties of distilled water so rinse agent might not be needed.
