My BD Kenmore ('69?) has been having trouble ramping up to 525 RPM, every once in a while, especially when I do towels, the machine will shift into spin, the tub drops but then it just sits there trying to move but can't, I give the tub a push and it then starts to spin. However, on every spin it does, even empty, it struggles for 2 or 3 minutes trying to get up to speed. What's the problem? I'm guessing it's belt related, but is the belt to tight or too loose? I put on a new belt when I got it last winter. Also, the timer gets stuck every once in a while when the machine is supposed to start draining, the agitation kicks off and it shifts to drain but then the motor stops. All I have to do is tap the timer clockwise with a finger and it starts back up. My portable BD Kenmore had this problem and cleaning the timer contacts thoroughly had no affect. Any thoughts?
Thanks!
Jamie

Jamie it might be that your clutch adjustment nut needs adjustment. Here is some more info, see in Figure 43 where it says to adjust this nut slightly downward, you might have to adjust it slightly upwards to allow the clutch pads to slip more if the machine is just stuck and the motor is humming with a heavy load of towels.
