After decades of tiny tubs, the contemporary HE's are recouping their earlier size--HUGE-- and just like their former counterparts, they do not fill to the top, except Maytags (conv) and F&P (mod). Title: The Lady in Waiting

MickeyD, How you doin'? lol Sure like to see the Lady up and ready for a wash. I tried to respond to your message here and ended up posting one that has no message! Sorry about that. Retirement? Oh no! I responded to you and others in the thread that I created a few days ago about my retirement.
Off to Chicago this weekend. Bye for now. Gary

At this point you can begin a Catalyst, an Eco-wash, a Magic

mickeyd's profile picture
Many people would initiate agitation now, adding soap and begin loading, maybe that dirty towel first (Glenn& Gyra) or those nasty white socks you ran thru the garden in chasing that Kangaroo away from your new shoots.

Time for the underflow wash

mickeyd's profile picture
You know that lint and grit may get thru the tinu holes rimmng the automatics, but they stand no chance against GRAVITY or the powerful Kenmore pump. Anything nasty get sucked rigny under the agi, and out. Lint, sand, gravel, Alien nail-clippings: nothing stands a chance

And now the cooldown

slow speed agitation and drain, as long as you want, alter speeds like the F&P. Have a ball. This one's for you Jason.

The end of the Wring cycle

mickeyd's profile picture
It took all of about 30 seconds. Of course you can wring at slow speed, nice for sweaters or blankets. And you can wring one item at a time and take your sweet old time as i probably will when I become elderly, or just naturally slow down. You have total control. Love to challenge Geoff or Gary to a Wringing Race!

Click goes the timer dial: it's time for the deep rinse

mickeyd's profile picture
which starts before the fill is complete, if you want!!! You can wait for a complete fill if that's your fancy today. You have total control and total freedom. This is washing at its most intimate.

Hi Mike ...

WOW; that was a fun photo essay!! Thanks for posting!!

I have never seen a water inlet on a Kenmore Visamatic; was that only on special models? Did you add that water difuser yourself?

OK Mister ... what a load going through the wringer!! I would surely lose the challenge; I must be "elderly", huh? :-) Hmmm ... I can make a nice "chain" of clothing, though. My Maytag wringers are mighty fast but I don't stuff them full, either.

Aren't you worried about breaking the wringer head and not finding any parts? Are you still able to get parts for those machines? The Maytag parts are starting to become scarce.

Hi Mickey
That is a very cool water fill inlet you have rigged up on your Kenmore!!! Thanks for the photos. Did you say you have a Norge wringer also?

Hi Guys!

mickeyd's profile picture
Rich got it; you probably did too, Geoff, but you're so pollite and wonderful that you didn't want to spoil the fun. That's the filter port, so I thought: why not a fill port?

I do not usually wring with such ferocity, merely showing the Lady's power.

And, yes, that is a kitchen sink spray faucet adapter from "the olden days." Sure works and looks just fine, eh Mister?

If any heads break, you'll be the first person I call.

Indeed, the Maytag wringer is faster, by 2.5 seconds for a king size bath towel. I clocked the M@ 8.5 seconds, and the Kenmore @ 11. I usually wring 3 towels at a time; it takes them very smoothly and with great ease.

Yes Rich, I have a Norge semi-automatic, an ancient war horse, with an open chrome wringer, though not quite as dramatic as the Visimatic.

Love the pictures! Wringing race is it? Well, after I get to know my new digital camera better, I can do that only I will use the 1955 ABC wringer and see what you think about that? It has smaller rollers than the Maytag or Visa matic but does a good job too. Have fun. Gary

Very exciting! I totally peed! If I could ever find an Easy Spin Dry Conventional (which has always been my fave) I think I'd end up using it more than my Hettie! I love getting involved with my laundry.

Did those two exposed buttons make it through OK? I thought that they had to be folded inside the garment before it went through the wringer, no?
Loved the presentation, but those of us who have done laundry in a wringer washer know that it is a lot of work, even if you are not rinsing in set tubs and hanging one load of laundry out to dry while washing another.

Hello Steve, Sam, Dave, Ross, Scott, Gary, Gene, Tom, and Gr

mickeyd's profile picture
So glad you noticed the bling, Steve; sometimes the things the camera catches are truly astonishing.

Sooooooo, Brother Robert, If you didn't want skin, theeeennnn........why weren't you wearing your nun's habit instead of the "muskle" shirt ? : - D The spray made the day!

What a nice thing to say, you beautiful Hawaiian!

Thank You Ross, but you have a THOR, the ultimate conventional, and such a beautiful studio.

Have no fear, Scott I was just letting the lady play to the camera. Are you wringing or sitting? I see you fill to the top like Geoff does, and you have the Maytag Cadillac.

Gar, I'd love to see you collection, and maybe we could have a prettiest rope contest with Geoff--after the race!

Gene, you peed, Yippee, another load to do. And you made me laugh really hard.
I'll save my other less able Easy for you, indefinately. Maybe you can torque her up.

A lot of work AND a lot of fun, Tom. Once you get used to them, you enter an effortless flow. Like baking, wringing is very forgiving, and the rubber yields to the buttons rather than snapping them into your eyeballs.

Greg, waiting for the day when you get into Conventionals they way Combos are on the horizon for me.

Gentlemen, sorry for the delay; I was totally freaked out by Glenn. You know why if you've read the thread. I genuinely appreciate your taking time to talk to me. It is so nice to hear from people you've grown so fond of; that's the magic of this club.

Whatever is the studded top on the Kenmore's agitator for? Or was that a Freudian thing that managed to get by management?

It's a scrubber cap, or collar reamer, and you could hold your heavily soiled item up to the head and give it good rubbing. Originally, the Visi was missing her cap, and the uber-generous John, Coldspot66, had the kindness to send me a NIB Roto-swirl Scrubber Cap. I think of him every time I use the Lady.

Nice pix of both of you Scott. Is that our Roger? I almost know everyone now,
