I finally got around to putting my 68 Kenmore pair together...They both have 68 dates but are they an exact matching pair? Does anyone out there have an advertisement for this pair? Thanks for your help.

Just wonderful. Those machines were a very state of the art design.

I only have the 68 Fall & Winter catalog from this timeframe and the set in that issue looks just like the washer you have - panel and dials on the dryer are just like your washer. I'm wondering if the dryer you have may have been a Spring/Summer to Fall/Winter difference in styling changes, or that dryer may have been a "Match-All" dryer (no matching washer was offered for these dryers) that Sears offered through the 60's & early 70's. Those changed from time to time and there was a very similar panel style to your dryer in 1966.

Kind of odd how the console on the washer looks like it's on backwards; that brushed metal strip in the front of the console kind of looks like it is supposed to be on the back, if you compare it to the dryer console. It also looks like it creates a ledge that impedes your hand when you reach for the console. Were these consoles made to be reversible? Or did someone put on a dryer console enclosure backwards as a substitute for the washer console?

I wuz worng

I'll be darned, the washer console really is supposed to be that way! Still looks odd to me, though. If it was turned the other way, the washer and dryer consoles would be a better visual match. Yeah, like I have a right to complain...
