*salutes* :-)

What a nifty model. Why can't we have dishwashers with bling these days?

We do. It's called generic bling.

Back in the day, when 1/2 the street would show up to see the New One, They were the Freedom Maker for many a housewife, many a teenager too. I always thought Sears had such nice appliances.

I've not seen that model before.
Those hardwood chopping block tops were the real thing. 24 x 24" plus of almost 2 inches of solid wood. Can you image buying a portable today with that? No way. At best it would be 3/4" thick "wood look" laminate.

Well, as a long term owner of portables....

The cutting board top was a mixed idea... had to be regularly oiled, and if you used it as a cutting board, there were questions of contamination, cross-contamination, and cleaning the thing.
Couldn't detach it and put it in the machine.

I have had 6 dishwashers since 1973, and three of them were portables. The built-ins were in my first three apartments.

Frankly, I LIKE the laminate top on my current dishwasher. I use a dishwasher safe cutting board on top of it...nice height.

As for bling, you can look at the "designer kitchen" crowd...how they like appliances to be hidden. Not me. I like to see my appliances!
