1. My pre-wash water temperature is determined by the rinse temperature selection buttons, is this correct and normal?

2. The soak cycle only lasts for four or five minutes, is this normal?

3. Someone here (sorry I don't remember who) mentioned that I can put a 50Hz pulley on the machine to make it run about 28% faster. Where can I get this pulley? Is it easy to install? Will it cause excessive wear on the machine? Any info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
Liam

Also do you need different belts with the 50Hz pulley?

Again thanks.
Liam

Thanks Steve. I checked the archives and found out who told me about the 50Hz pulley, it was gansky1 from my Maytag video thread who said...

"Love the quicker version - if you can select the speed increase on YouTube, set it about 28% faster and then you'd have a Maytag on a 50hz motor pulley. I have one on my 806 and really love that washer - it's what the large capacity Maytags SHOULD have been like!"

Gansky would you be able to tell me where you got the 50Hz pulley, its installation, and if it causes excessive wear on the washer?

Thanks.
Liam

perhaps you can take a little snap of the dial for us? i am not a maytag expert and i forgot the dial markings.

if the maytag experts dont chime in i guess youll have to throw away the maytag and get a nice dd Kenmore. nobody wants THAT do they??

Here's a couple of pictures of the dial as requested, sorry for the grainy image quality. I'm still looking for the info on the 50hz motor pulley.

Thanks.
Liam

spins out the prewash water
fills for wash at wash water temp
agitates 1-2 min

The 50 cycle pulley and belts are Maytag parts. They should be listed on the last page of the parts pages for each model. The same pulley and belts fit all.

My A408 has a soak cycle that advances into the wash, or soak only cycle, that does not. I love the machine, it is a fabric matic on the pushbutton, not the dial, hence to make room for both.
