Yes, I know it's lighted, but I'm holding out for a 1959 Lady Kenmore washer

If nobody local (hint...hint) wants this washer, I'll pull the agitator and the rest will get krushed.

It looks like this might have had the detergent dispenser box on the back-left side of the opening. Solenoid activated at the start of the main wash cycle.

What is that next to the Kenmore with the huge panel? Looks interesting.

This is like 1975-76 and took the place of the Lady Kenmore with all the buttons that was cancelled back then. This was just before the, as JasonL, says "black faced" kenmores appeared. It is fairly TOL although akward what with the knobs up on top instead of on the console proper.

Yup, this was the transition year to the ugly ducklings, as I like to call them. It's interesting to see one of these again.

It's the 800's ugly sister. Still, it's a Kenmore and I would probably save it if it was mine, or use it for parts.

What is that next to the Kenmore with the huge panel? Looks

"gansky1":

Personally, I don't know what it is for real, but it looks like either it's a Philco or a Bendix (I don't see anything that resembles a lid on the top of that machine) Washer/Dryer Combination.

"washertalk":

Yep...... that was what it looks like as well. As I have a S/S 1975 Sears Catalog to check against it with, it is apparent that the F/W 1975 did NOT have a Lady Kenmore in it back then. Because in the Spring of 1975, they still had a Lady Kenmore back then. There is one in my S/S 1975 Catalog.

From 1976 on, they have been producing the "match alls" for their laundry appliances (from 1976 to present (aside from the Kenmore Elites and the Front Loaders of today)).

Notice it is a "push to start, pull to stop" Kenmore. I loved mine and it took a long time to adjust when I got the DD's.

Hi Greg,

That's an electric Hamilton dryer to the right of the Kenmore.

Cool machine

I really like this machine and it seems quite rare I hope someone can save it. I like the high mounted knobs.

This is a GREAT Machine!!!

Rich! Don't krush this one! This is the machine that served my mom well for 25 years. I think I can still find the owner's manual and detergent dispenser if anyone is interested. Mandy you are correct, it automatically dispenses either on "soak & wash" cycle or if you set the regular wash cycle for maximum time of 14 minutes.

This model wasn't a replacement for the LK, Sears still had LK's in the line-up when I went out with my mom to buy this one, but it was very near TOL and has a nice big tub.

Biggest selling point: "Quiet Pak" sound insulation. The laundry room at my mom's was open to the family room and noise was an issue, especially after the rude racket of the '68 Signature/Norge shred-o-matic the Kenmore replaced. It remains the most quiet washer during agitation that I've ever heard.

I strongly urge anyone who is interested to grab this machine!!!!

Ralph

My aunt and uncle had the matching dryer in white. They purchased it in 1974. I loved that dryer. I never saw a washer with that console until I found this site. As good as it looks on the washer, I think this console looks better on the dryers.

I hope somebody will save this washer. We must keep as many of these vintage finds in the universe.

Good Luck,
James

Fill Level

rp2813's profile picture
One thing I forgot to mention about this machine is that the infinite water level setting's lowest level still fills the tub almost 1/2 way. It's not the most water-wise machine out there but much like my modern day Duet washer, this one is quieter during agitation than it is during (neutral) drain and spin.

I sure hope somebody steps up and saves this one from the krusher. Rich, it's really worth saving and I hope you wait a while before krushing if you can spare the room. Surely you have an Amana or two that are much more worthy of krushing than this beauty.

Ralph

Wow!!!

When I saw those pictures, my mom had that exact washer inside & out when I was a kid. The only it did not have is the soak selector. Boy it brought me back on the memories when my mom had that type of washer. Thanks TrainGuy for those pictures.

This one is spoken for. Mike will be posting this on another thread. On a side note however, the model number begins with 110.72*****.
