I need to respray the Sungold portion of the control panels on my centre-dial Maytags- both the washer and the dryer (Spray 'n Wash damage).

I cannot figure out how to get the control panels off. I removed the knob and dial of the dryer, and the two screws behind the dial, as well as the two screws on top of the console housing. Nothing budged. In putting the dryer back together, I got some first-class OJT in how to put that knob assembly back on properly- it's tricky to index. It is back on correctly.

Anyway, if someone could tell me what I'm doing wrong, I'd appreciate it. For the moment, everything's back together, so that I can use the machines- nothing else is being tinkered with until I get instructions from a competent source. I really do feel the control panels need to come off for a proper job of cleaning and masking before I respray the Sungold.

Thanks from a noob-

Sandy, when you remove the two screws that hold the back panel on, take it off, there will be 4 screws that bolt the console to the top of the washer, or dryer. Remove those screws, and then I would remove the screws that hold the switches to the console, and the screws behind the timer knob. That way you don't need to remove any wires from the switches or timer.

BTW, I just did this same job Sunday, I changed out a 606 console, to match a dryer I already had.
