My "to-do" list has had this project on it for some time now so tonight I decided it was time to get it done and cross it off.

I changed the speed-changer oil in the L-3 Laundromat, made a few adjustments and then took it out for a spin. It runs a lot quieter now and is even wearing the latest fashion in Maytag rubber footwear!

Tomorrow is supposed to be hot and sunny so I did a bunch of washing tonight and will have it up on the line by 9 A.M. The Westy got her two test-loads as well as other machines around the basement.

I used this Tide HE (cap filled to Line 1) with a Weigh to Save measured "Regular" load.

Fortunately, this model has a nice flush-rinse spray after the wash that knocked down all the suds before the first spin. The first rinse was pretty good and the second rinse was almost clear with a smidgen of Downy.

The Duomatic got some attention tonight as well with the white clothes.

And the Frigidaire WCI-58 waits patiently for the hot water heater to catch up to the night's demands. It should be hot again in 3 days ;-)

Greg...

Those machines are just gleaming! So many toys to play with. I'm green with envy ;)

I knew it wouldn't take you long to get that basement in ship shape again. Beautiful, simply beautiful.

And, I can't wait to see that Maytag in person.

Nothing perks me up like clean laundry. And, the smell of fresh wash on the line. Aahhh.... so fresh and clean. What a great way to end the week and start the weekend, and what a sense of accomplishment.

Hi Greg. You have a lovely collection of washers. I still have great memories when I saw them at the 2005 Convention.

That's a nice start for a weekend! Brings good memories back of the 2005 convention indeed. How many combo's are there now in your basement? Besides these too also the GE and the Maytag? It's wonderful running several washers at the same time, laundry is done in no time.

Jon, I know your basement is flooded now and then, but isn't there some kind of concrete paint that can take that?

Enjoy your weekend y'all!!!

Lovelovelove that '58 Frigidaire and the Maytag---what year is the 'Tag? Looks like late 50's or early 60's. Beautiful machines, all, Greg.

Greg it looks like you had a fun "mini washin" !! Glad that you can cross the Westy off of your to do list and that she will be in tip top shape for the September gathering.

Hope to get some pix ready of the new Frigidaire before your tank heats.

The majestic Bendix--does that have the same colored lights as Jon's, blue, white, and sunset?

Would love to see your machines and meet your wonderful son and lovely beagle and make you the perfect clothesline.

with its healthy pile of suds! The way front load washing should be.

That's a great measuring cup on top of the Frigidaire. I wonder where that came from?? I found a gear for your model 50A as I was cleaning the cellar today, but I don't think it is the gear that you need. I found 50139 Main Control Gear. Interested?

Great pics, Greg. But how do you get anything to suds in your Maytag? I've tried everything! What do you use?

Louis - there are four combination washer-dryer units in the basement right now; 1955 Westinghouse Wash & Dry Laundromat, the Maytag washer-dryer, the GE Combination and, of course, the 1953 Bendix Duomatic. There is one more combo coming, a 1971 Kenmore from Tucson that Roger is bringing in September.

Eugene - That is a 1964 A900 Maytag - all button control.

Fred - I would be interested in the gears for the 50A, I never turn down spares for this rare of washer! Thanks!

Mike D. - It's hard to see the lights in photos, but they are colored, just like Jon's Duomatic. Gotta love the lights! We're hosting a wash-in here in September (see thread in the Super forum) so get a plane ticket and head on out!

Mike K. - I did get a new water heater, but it's a dreadful slow thing. Underpowered for it's size, I think. The clothes all were out on the lines bright and early Saturday morning, then I did all the bedding wash this morning so the lines are full again!

Rich - I added a little STPP to the wash-potion in the Maytag, I used the last of some Arm & Hammer Essentials liquid which probably helped make more suds too.

Greg,
You machines look fantastic as usual!
So much fun!
Did your old hot water tank fail? I know you liked it, because it had the higher temp thermo. for the "HOT" like the old Tanks. What brand did you replace it with? The "Whirlpool" Gas water tanks are built in TN. The HOT is like the older tanks. Hot is really HOT! I don't know the exact temp, but I had to replace the one I had, and I was shocked that you could still buy a tank that would get this hot. The tank was built to withstand temps 200 degrees above the highest water setting on the thermo.
It also heats very fast!
Nothing like super hot water!
Brent

Re: Westinghouse Laundromat

Gansky1 Your Laundromat is just like the one my Aunt Helen had when I was about 2 or 3 years old and I loved to watch it wash and rinse but not spin as it would walk the floor and it scared me. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Danf.
