Hi Gang

Well, I have been busy inquiring about a ’57 pink Lady Kenmore set that can be made available, However, after much soul-searching I am leaning about not adding it to my collection. I am happy with the performance of the ’51s and actually prefer the look, plus I have my Westinghouses. I can get three sets hooked up here but don’t really have the space for any more.

Anyway for about $1000 I figure I could have these up and running. One is the dryer that was on craigslist and ebay for $150 in St. Louis, and the other is the washer that is in Alameda CA for $50. Shipping costs (kept low with help of another member) would be the additional costs. Some of you may remember the washer as it was talked about here on this forum – it is just the shell but it looks to be in good shape. Rickr commented at that time that the insides could be swapped in with another similar Kenmore – which is what I had been planning on doing. I know where a very good condition ’63 800 Kenmore is and was hopeful I could make this work.

I was even tempted to put this set together and list them on ebay – there have been a few pink sets that have sold for quite a bit this last year. On the other hand no-one even bid on the dryer when it was just recently listed. Anyway I have quite a few projects around the house already that I could use this $1000 on and frankly have a better presentation of the machines I already own. Soooo, if anyone is interested in picking up where I left off I would be happy to pass on the information I have.

When I first started looking at these sets a little over a year ago I really liked that 57 set and still do. I’m not totally into color though, I kinda like the white, and oddly the 57 is such a “modern” looking set I wonder if most uniformed folks will think it is a late 60s set or something. Anyway most of my stuff is 1947-54 or so.

Well, I am relieved. I covet your '51 pair more than I can tell you, and it would have broken my heart to hear that it was available before I'd won the lottery, LOL. (I'm in Georgia; it would take a lottery win to ship 'em out here!)

I'm glad to hear those Kenmores of yours are still in a loving home.
