Have they never seen a portable before?

Gawd, the seller must have a very limited experience with appliances! I had to buy my own house to actually have the space to put in a built-in dishwasher... Takes all kinds I guess.

This looks like the 18 series custom model. These models did no water heating so you would need to have a very hot supply of water to be effective like 140 - 150. But they are such well built durable dishwashers. Good catch for someone with a real hot water supply.

Is there a timeline?

Is there any sort of chart or table of model numbers and serial numbers that shows which models of KitchenAid dishwashers were made when, like that wonderful Maytag date chart somebody posts here now and again?

Well

It looks really similar to the one that I have, although, that is just a guess. Mine is fron 1981, and they really did not change that much for at least a few years. My KitchenAid growing up was a Costom, with a dark control pannel, and of course, the Amber water heater light on the front. I hope that someone gets to take it home and enjoy it!
