A very informal housewarming at my home this afternoon was graced by a visit with WestyTopLoader (Austin) and RetroMom (Venus). I suggested they arrive early for some play-time. Austin had a look at my DishDrawer, ran a load in the F&P IWL12 and DEGX1, had a peep at the Whirlpool Imperial Seventy belt-drive next door, at my "vintage" 1991 KA pair, and the GE Profile dishwasher that is temporarily residing in the garage pending further swappage. Venus had a look at everything and absolutely oozed charm and enthusiasm! They gave me a kewl KA coffee grinder, and a box of Tide Mountain Spring. Fun, Fun, Fun!

OMG. Austin, I'm so sorry, I *totally* forgot about the Hoover Celebrity, even though you specifically asked to see it. Well, that means you HAVE TO COME BACK!

LOL...as you can see I'm not very "photogenic" (and Mom says she isn't but is...go figure).

F&P IWL12=FUN. I was surprised at how splashy it was on the main wash!

Mini Wash-in Texas

We had such a wonderful time! Glenn was a terrific host; and his family was delightful and so much fun to talk to!

He allowed us to arrive early to "play" with the F&P's. I still can't believe that the washer plays the National Anthems of the U.S., as well as those of New Zealand and Australia (I think). I told Austin when they program the washer to play Pac-Man and balance my check book, I will get them! LOL

P.S. Glenn: BTW, the snackies were great!!

I'm glad Texas FINALLY got on the local washin map!! Glenn, you either took in laundry, or were saving for 3 weeks LOL. A naturally, those snackies would be delicious.

And Terry, I have a vintage coffeemaster, but need a gasket.

Hi Bob,

I have an unused (that's right, UNUSED) Coffeemaster model C30. Maybe Mom won't notice if I send it your way...;-)

Well, Mr. Appnut, you HAVE to get yourself over here someway, somehow, sometime, for a Fri-Sat visit and bring along a couple "Bob" loads if you dare!

Sorry to say Bob those gaskets are not available. If you keep watch at estate sales etc, sometimes you can still find complete pots with soft useable gaskets. Austin does the brand new one that you have, have a soft gasket and are you able to get the top bowl on and off the bottom? They do make wonderful coffee!! Terry

Here's a demand graph of my electricity from Saturday. Notice when the tankless kicked on at 140°F for the load of whites. Then the dryer ran at about 4 PM.

Hi Terry,

Yes, the gasket is easily pliable and the bowls separate easily. I'm not going to use it so it will stay in mint condition, however, Mom has a C-50 that she uses daily. The gasket is in great shape on that one as well! She recently bid on a C-20 from the 1940's, and we'll see how the gasket looks on that one. Although from what I've seen (on what I have as well as eBay), the gaskets tend to age well.

Cool demand graph - how are you able to get these? Do you have your whole house wired into a PC? Awesome!

Hi Austin, It has been my experience that the gaskets on the C50's lasted much better than those for the earlier models. They are much smaller as well. Sad to say but most of the time when you find a C 20 the gasket will be hard as a rock. I hope that the one your mom is getting isn't that way. If it was ever replaced there is a chance that it will be OK. Keep us posted. Terry

Westy, Venus and Dadoes

Thanks for sharing your pix and glad y'all had a good time at the Texas Washin. Maybe we could get together sometime-us'ns from Louisiana (not far) would like to come-maybe Alr from N.O. and appnut Bob and anyone else who wants to come down. Just a thought.

Hi Terry,

Uh oh...I was half expecting to hear that, considering it was from the 1940's and is more than 60 years old. I wonder if the gaskets on the (used) C-30s have the same symptoms, considering both use friction-fit bowls (the C-50 of course has a "locking" bowl that is much easier to remove when it's HOT). I'll keep my eyes peeled on eBay for a replacement.

Hi Austin, also check whenever you are in a thrif store or such. Estate sales and garage sales are another good choice. It seems that you still do run into these from time to time. Good luck and let us know how the one is that your mom is getting. Terry

David us Southerners

David I have met Bob (appnut) by phone he is so nice. TCoxx, and JasonL. and I got together at Mr Coxx's home he has several nice machines. We had a great time and Todd is such a great host. JasonL posted pics of us on that HOT day. They are somewhere buried in the archived posts. JasonL. is an accomplished videographer and a computer wiz. Jason made us DVD's of the last convention that were soooooo nice. It's always so nice to meet new people. This site has an abundance of nice people. Jason has his pics posted in Member Collections. I live in a small house, sure wish i had the room to collect and have nice toys like some of the members with basements or larger homes. The generosity of the members with large collections is so great, they are always willing to answer a question or post that special interest pic. This site is like therapy......... its just so cool. David our links take you to our e-mail, Knock anytime. Thanks again alr2903.
