From a very nice person who knows the importance of saving something beautiful from the crusher... I have a Frigidaire WI-57 washer and DI-57 dryer set that is in excellent condition complete with manuals. It has been in a dry basement since new and was owned and operated by a retired couple. The dyer still works and the washer shows signs of life (console lights and water solenoid buzzes) but I have not investigated any further. There is no rust and the drum is spotless. Washer s/n 16E47452. I live on the south side of Indianapolis |

There is hope, and practically in my back yard! Actually, I recently acquired a WI-57 (I'll be posting pics shortly) and am now on a quest to find a matching dryer. Good Luck Rich. They're a beautiful set. |

Wow another one found, that is just great, looking forward to the pictures! There was a time (like back in 1996) when this whole club consisted of maybe me, Jon Charles, John Lefever, Gary Wiebel, Tom Turbomatic, Bob Worth, Don Haggerty and a couple of others who only could dream of finding a Control Tower washer. The only Unimatics in our collective collection at that time were a couple of WO-65's. Who knew there would be so many more found over the next decade! |

Robert, It's only because of your web site that so many of these vintage appliances are being found. I'm coming up on being a member for only 6 years, but look what I have found, sold/traded/given away, and found again! And also look at the friendships we've all made! Jimmy is right and as you know, most of the time nothing just falls into one's lap. We've all had to work hard at sending letters, making phone calls and taking a lot of scenic routes in our travels to find and save these babies. But hasn't it all been worth it! I do promise to take some pics of this set when I get it home. I'm going to try to get my 1956, this one, my 1958 and my 1959 sets all together on the same wall. I hope that I can squeeze all 8 in. Thanks again for everything, Rich |

Congrats on your Find Rich and Yep....we all owe it to you Robert! As you said, its all hard work but it pays off as it has for you. I had a call from one of my adverts last week who said that he had a Frigidaire Custom Deluxe in good condition, that all it needed was a new motor, which he had being in the business. Unfortunately, he didn't read my advert last week in his local paper and it went to the scrapyard!!! Boo Hoo! BUT...there is an upside. He has plenty of spare parts left and repair manuals which he is going to keep aside for me when i make my trip interstate in a few weeks, PLUS he is even going to ring his old client base whom he sold Frigidaire's too back in the 60's and 70's and find out if any of them still have them! Now...that's assistance for you!!! Will let you know if anything comes of it! Cheers Leon |

Nelson, I've sent you 3 emails about the dryer. Is the email address in your profile correct? This is your last chance for the dryer since I'll be leaving for Indy tomorrow morning. I have 2 of these dryers here at my house already. If you're interested in one of them, you'll have to email me tonight. Otherwise....... Rich |
