Problems with this type of list

I have been asked on occassion to assist in putting together this type of list among others (refrigerator efficiency vs dimension. Making lists is an interesting class project as it builds teams, forces the students to do some research, and reinforces some of their skills in pulling alot of information together into something usefule. The problem is that these lists are very static and never stay updated.

Interestingly in todays ADA compliant world manufactueres would supply a braille overlay making this list almost useless or certainly not necessary.

After finding this site, if asked today to pull together a list, I would probably get guys on here to pull it off. Most people posting here seem more knowledgealbe about these issues ancertainly have the interest.

When Braille Overlays are Useless

However, appliance models that have graphical user interface type displays cannot be matched with Braille labeling. I once lived in a house with a late model Whirlpool stove containing such an interface for operating the oven. The irony was this stove did have knobs for setting each burner. Therefore, if the trend continues well into these GUI-based appliances, then synthetic speech add-ins should be developed for accessibility, such as the Whirlpool talking washer demo.--Laundry Shark
