That is far from being an el cheapo machine. It's a Speed Queen Commercial Washer as used in Laundrettes (Laundromats in the US) and would have been a very expensive machine.

Oh, but it has no timer knob to advance forward if you only want a rinse & spin or a spin only. Also, I've seen the dryers and they have no automatic drying.

funguy, if you dont have anything kind or encouraging to add, then dont say anything. this is a laundromat style machine, of course it wont have a dial-timer. Mark seems very happy with it, who are you to argue?

Mark, i liked your videos. Clearly it has a very potent agitation. How would you rate the capacity?

OK. Now I get it. Speed Queens are laundromat style machines which don't have timers. In the same manner, that's why the speed queen dryers have no automatic drying.

ALL Speed Queens are not laundromat-style machines. Just this particular specimen that Hoover3060 has obtained. Surely it does have a timer, but not accessible to the customer/user.

Thanks for your comments and the replies to funguy. I was going to go there but decided to be good and not respond to his comments. Im sure you mean well funguy but sometimes your comments come across as harsh and "el cheapo". For your information it cleans superbly! Im very impressed with the cleaning ability. I guess if you paid money to do a wash in a laundromat and it wasn't clean you wouldn't be very happy!

Thanks, I intend to have this machine for many years (im quite bad at getting used to machines and wanting a different one!). I love this one. I love the simplicity, water level,agitator and the way the water nearly covers it. The spin drains are great and the spray rinse is good. It has such a heavy and powerful sound when washing which I also love.

Hey Brett:

Capacity wise im very pleased with it. It takes a good size load which is great as sometimes its a annoying when you have a full load in a fl to do but some other items which make up a load which is too small to wash alone (The front loaders I own are vintage and don't hold that much). With the speed queen you can put the whole lot in. It doesn't hold too much if that makes sense and this means I can do another load! Im not a huge fun of huge capacity machines as why when you love to wash would you want to wash once when you can wash twice! (Hope that all made sense).

That's my mistake. I've never stepped in a laundromat in my life so I've never seen these kind of machines. I'm not sure why those kind of dryers don't have automatic drying because that would make less time for the laudry to spend in the dryer. And to everyone reading this: Hoover3060's Youtube account is closed! Spread the word!

Commercial Speed Queens

 On each floor of my new building, there is a recent model SQ commercial pair. The washer [a top loader] can handle twice the load as I could stick in those clunky Shredmores at my former apartment complex. Furthermore, the Queens operate with less noise *especially during the spin cycles* than those finicky WP Shredmore commercial types from the mid 90s. Also, I shell out a quarter less per load in the SQ's at $1 per wash. Since I have recently relocated here, haven't tested the dryer yet, but was forewarned that it does heat up pretty quickly. Although the dryer costs a quarter more than at my former residence, and since I am good at keeping track of how long various items should dry at which settings, I'm sure the SQ dryer will provide me more bang for the quarters, just as the washer already does.--Laundry Shark

ot that I Know of...

 Experience has tought me to not assume one way or the other, but to keep track of how long my stuff dries. For instance, if some items take 15 minutes and the dryer runs for 30, then I just plan ahead for either another quick drying load to use up the other 15 minutes or coin in another 30 minute session so as to dry a load requiring longer than 30 minutes. Interestingly enough, when operating the washer, I can hear the sounds of the timer clicking and doing its subtle normal "scratchy" noises in between cycle changes. Of course it's embedded in the machine and preset to motate for the amount of wash time, temperature, and wash speed settings per coined load.--Laundry Shark
