Sunday after church, I went with a friend to Menards to purchase some bookshelves. While exploring the store, we looked at some washers and dryers. Found several Whirlpool, Roper (probably leftover stock in case Roper laundry pairs are no longer made), and GE washers. There were both top load and front load models on display. Of particular interest was a whirltag. It looked like a Maytag on the outside, but had the Whirlpool guts on the inside. We even found a Haier washer for about $240. That was the first time I actually got to look at a Haier in person. Would like to have that little machine for laundering wash cloths, socks, and other small items, while reserving the larger clothes and linens for the full capacity Speed Queen commercial washers in our building. Menards also has a grocery section with several basic food, toiletry, cleaning, and janitorial items. We got a brief glimpse of some Ajax laundry Powder and some Arm & Hammer Laundry Soap. Other than those quick glances, I do not know anything else except that I did manage to find a decent plastic bookshelf set that was easy to assemble without tools or glue. I like Menards, too bad they're not in Canada nor are there any closeby in Michigan I know of. When I used to drive back and forth across ND MN etc I'd always stop for my smoke breaks at a plaza with a Menards and pick up some things.

Did the Whirltag washer have center dial? If it did it is the new Maytag "Cenntenial" washer which has been realeased as a celebration of Maytag existing for 100 years.

Maytag Centennial

 Well, it did not look like a Bravo due to the fact that the tub and agitator design were part of the standard Whirlpool format. I did not look at the dial, but suspected it was most likely the center type. And no, I did not have time to dig through the trade in pile. Besides, my newer, smaller apartment unit most definitely lacks the room for collecting anything else.--Laundry Shark
