Hi Bobby, I don’t blame you one bit for wanting the “ker-chuck” sound back. I love that about most of my vintage machines. I should record that and have that be the ring-tone on my cell phone LOL. If you can find the old timer, the part that advances the dial is interchangeable with the new timer. You see in this picture below is a part called the escapement? This is what makes that beautiful sound and causes the timer to move in a fast increment. If you can’t find the original timer, you can always find an escapement, I’m not sure but I might even have one laying around here somewhere. What is the timing interval on those Maytag timers, 30 seconds? |

Hey Bobby - I had a few extra 142 timers sitting around. This one happens to be a suds saver timer - PN 2-1166. Tested the motor/escapement earlier this evening and enjoyed the lovely 30 second pause before the wonderful sound of 'cher-clunk'! Appears to have been a replacement timer. Not sure if it is a rebuild or an OEM replacement. Shoot me an email if this would work ~ Ben |

I'll check it out Robert, but I still have to find an old style escapement. Bobby in Boston |

Bobby, I have a timer from a Maytag commercial washer with timer motor and escapement. Here is a pic. |

I'm pretty sure it is a 30 second interval timer. Let me know. |
