does anybody know if the intergrated ariston indesit and hotpoint washers are any good. i like the look of them and they all look the same but with a different badge on them, my nanny's intergrated electrolux ew1200i looks like its on its last legs and im just wondering for when the electrolux finally packs it in whether the ariston/indesit/hotpoint's are any good.

If I were you I'd buy another Electrolux. My engineer friend tells me the eletronics/bearings in the integrated Ariston/Indesit/Hotpoints fall over at the drop of a hat.

So bad to say something like that!
Indesit brand machine are recovering in quality hopefully!
Why don't you get a Candy or Hoover (virtually the same) machine? They make nice integrated models

I have to agree with tom i'm afraid

My parents have the previous washer dryer, with the cycle knob that clicks round. The machine is pretty awful for fluff. have to clean it out every month or so. The washing machine is just your average indesit company washe cycle. I really don't like the machine but it has lasted 4 years without any major issues. The machine aborts a cycle every few months for no apparent reason which is rather annoying. The pump filter is in the stupidest place imaginable. Its too low down to put anything underneath to catch the water.

I would pick another Electrolux in a heartbeat.

Lux all the way!

why suffer Indeshit crap by any name like Hotpoint or Candy crap badged up as Hoover. Lux may have quality control issues on the production line but its better than having EVERY machine made with inferior parts like Indesit and Candy do. only my VERY EXPERIENCED position to comment qualifies me to say. 3 Candy/Hoover washers, neither of them saw 4 years old. The 80s candy being best. 1 5year old Hoover dryer about to have its 3rd heater -it wont be having a 3rd heater. It will be down the tip and replaced with a Lux, rubbish bearings, drum paddles falling off. Filter breaking, 1 Hoover pure power upright cleaner, foot pedal and motor failure at 18 months old. Dont waste your money on Either brand. Go lux and enjoy real quality for the price. Rob

I had to put up with an Indeshit WIE137S at uni. The thing was just so flimsy. After 2 months the pump blocked - the filter wouldn't come out so had to dismantle the pump! After 6 months the drawer handle snapped off. Smoke started to appear from the motor with anything close a full load of washing. After 8 months the programme selector broke (The ratchets had gone meaning the dial went round smoothly rather than clicking).

To top it all off the machine would randomly put itself into demo mode in the middle of a cycle meaning that it effectively got stuck in loop of tumbles and short spins!

After all this we gave up and bought a 'real' 1993 Hotpoint 9537, which despite being 14 years old did a far better job than the 2 year old Indesit it replaced.

Intergreated Indesit...

I've used the washer in the pic below, and I must say it is a DREADFULL machine! Luckily its not used much but to be honest i'd rather go to the laundrette then use this machine!! I dont understand how clothes can clean properly when it tumbles so slowly! even on a cottons cycle its like a Hand wash LOL!
Even though ive just had a terrible experience with a machine from the Electrolux group, I'd stay stick with them because its much better than those Intergrated Indesit's I must say.

I would have to say that my experience of brands doesn't necessarily follow the general trends that are talked about on here. I really think it's difficult to generalise about the huge manufacturers like Indesit, Candy, BSH and Electrolux.

I've seen fantastic products from all of them at the high end of their ranges and utter rubbish at the lower price points.

The likes of Miele can cherry pick and simply doesn't do lower end. Also, many of the machines from the old days were designed for a very different market and were MUCH more expensive (in relative terms) than a bottom of the line modern machine.

If you for example compare the lowest end basic Indesit model with the 1600 spin Aqualtis you'll find they're totally different machines. One is practically disposable and cheaply built, the other is a decent washing machine.

Likewise, a cheap Candy machine vs a Hoover Vision or Candy Grando will give you a similar shockingly huge difference.

It's all about branding, which is why you're seeing all of the major machine makers tier their brands. e.g. Indesit vs Hotpoint/Ariston and Scholtes
or Candy vs Hoover
Electrolux : AEG, Electrolux, Zanussi and then budget brands like Tricity Bendix..

IF the same badge is applied to the cheap stuff as the high quality stuff you end up with a tarnished name.

In my own experience I've had Ariston dishwashers that lasted almost 20 years without a single service, and Bosch machines that have been ridiculously prone to problems e.g. our dishwasher needed 2 control panel replacements and two new detergent cups!!! We also had a Zanussi (Electrolux) Jet System washer that went through two wash recirculating pumps in 4 years!!

The only brand that's held true in terms of reliability has been Miele.

I really think you need to be looking at buying middle/upper range products rather than avoiding particular brands.

I agree, you can't rubbish brands just in a blanket way because its rather silly. Candy are producing some good stuff with the Grando/Vision range and Indesit are being quite innovative lately. As more and more of us are buying their products on here Darren with his Hottie Ultima, Richards Hoover Vision etc its testament to the fact they are doing something right to tempt us with interesting washers.

By the way all, as i'm about to move back to England to Lincoln you may see my name change on here soon once i've thought one up to replace sparkcymru.

It is really a case of you get what you pay for to be honest.

I have an Aqualtis 1600 RPM spin and so far it's the best machine I've ever used. Sure, it might not be quite as heavily built as the Miele my parents have, but given what I paid for it it's a fantastic machine and in many ways it actually beats the Miele!! Particularly in terms of how silent it is. It's so quiet that you wouldn't actually know it's washing. You just get a bit of a whir at 1600RPM, but it's still vastly quieter than anything else I've heard previously (including many of the Mieles)

It seems quite well built too, nothing amazing but the door lock's very robust, nothing seems to be too plastically and the machine is generally well designed. I'm very impressed at how well it clears out the detergent dispenser too.

Ditto MRX
I have the Hoover Vision 9 kg invertor and I think it's the best machine I've ever had/used. It seems very well built, solid and is pretty much silent again only a slight whirr as it reaches 1400 other than that, if you closed your eyee you wouldn't know it was on.
Maybe makers are starting to listen to the feedback over the last few years and are starting to put some thinking into the desgin and quailty into the build of their higher spec machines.

when my nanny's machine does go eventually she wont be getting a electrolux or zanussi product again she said before she bought the intergrated electrolux she didn't even want another electrolux after the last electrolux she had she was going to get an intergrated ocean machine but changed hr mind as she badly neded the machine, i showed her a picture of the indesit machine in a catalouge and she likes the look of it and said that she'd get that one when the lux packs it in. she hasn't been to happy with the lux as it has been a bit unreliable over the past 6 years.
