I saw that picture of the Speed Queen internals, and spotted that familiar solenoid right off! That is the same solenoid as the Da-lite screen company uses to open and close the door on their executive series screens. I see those frequently in my job as an audiovisual techie!

I have also seen soleniods somethiong like that in RF contactors for AM stations-used for switching to dummy loads,pattern changes.-they would run off either 120 or 220V.

And more soleniods-the place I work at is loaded with 'em-in the AC contactors,RF contactors in our transmitters.
