I really made a mistake today and missed an opportunity to get a classic! I was drining by Atchley's bumo and dent store in Orange City, Fl and as I have done in the past, stopped to see what used machines were sitting in the pile behind the store.
Right there was a nearly pristine KDC21 machine of the original variety. This was one of the first machine Hobart made of that series. It even had the heating water indicator on the fron panel. It also had the 700-1400 watt element in the tank so it meant it had to heat the water before washing and at the end of the cycle like the 19 and 20's. It also had the heated dryer unit unlike the later ones with the plastic blower and lower wattage tank element. I didn't have enough room in my van at that moment so I didn't ask to take the unit. I went back an hour later and it was GONE! Someone picked it up for scrap and now it will be crushed to death. Man I should have told them I would be back for it. Well, I guess, he who hesitates is lost!
I would have even pulled my KDS18 out to use that machine!
Well someday.. still looking for a Superba 21 or 22!
