I would love to see the inside of this old Westy. Apparently some early Westinghouse TL's were solid tub, can anyone confirm that? Not bad for the price!

And if memory serves me correctly, I think the model picture above is a mid 1960's model (i.e. -- 1964 to about no later than 1967). --Charles-- P.S.: Too bad it doesn't hardly spin..... |

I think you're about right, I'll get my Westy book out tomorrow night and look it up... This design had the pump mounted to the top of the drive motor, not a good arrangement if a seal goes bad - it could take the motor with it. Other than a few quirks like that, it was a fun washer to watch. This one probably has a big, black ramp agitator. If it's a slow spin, it might need a new belt or belt adjustment. Something caught in the between the basket and outer tub, a bad speed switch or timer or some of these had a strange pulley and solenoid arrangement to slow down the spin during pump-out that could be not working properly or a bad winding in the motor. |
