My aunt has one of those fantastic Norge monsters that she's replacing for Christmas and giving to me!!! She says that it's not spinning right, the clothes are coming out wetter than they used to and she has to spin it twice before putting it in the dryer... She used to have the matching dryer up until a year or so ago and it died and was replaced with a BOL Whirlpool. According to her, that's about when the washer started to act up and not spin right. I know there's a possibility that the new dryer just happens to take a lot longer to dry to capacity/air flow differences, but if it were the washer, what might the problem be? Could the clutch pads be worn out? Would it be an impossible fix? I know these machines are a b*tch to work on because they pretty much need to be completely dissassembled in order for any work to be done, but it's quickly becoming my favorite toploader of all time even over the Unimatic! (Shocking, I know...) Thanks for any help or info about how to save this beast!!! P.S. This isn't the actual machine, this is as close as I can find, her machine looks just like this except it has push buttons for the water temps. |

Jaime, couldn't something binding cause a slow-down in the spin? Perhaps a bad bearing that is not too audible, or a dragging brake? Sounds like you will simply have to go through a process of elimination with it to get it right. |
