Hi! "bpetersxx" an alternate idea that I've done not only for Portable Dishwashers, but for Portable Washers, is to get a piece of Rubber/Plastic Pipe, approx the full length from the bottom of the Dishwasher Coupler, to the bottom of the Sink. I clamp this onto the bottom of the Coupler area and I cut a diagonal area out of the bottom of the Pipe, to allow the Water to Flow through all right, without any restrictions and it doesn't Splash at all. When the Machine is finished, I just unclamp the Pipe and place it somewhere near or under the Sink Cabinet or Counter area, leaving the Clamp lightly tightened to the Pipe, so as to not loose it.
"BTW" I wish that I still had my Maytag WU-502 Model Built-In Dishwasher. Mine was pretty quiet operating and I actually loved the reverse Loading of the Dishes and Glasses and the Belt-Drive. I hope to locate one sometime and if I do, even though I really like my Taller-Tub Maytag, I would change it out for the Vintage one mentioned above.
I hope that this helps and hopefully saves you some unnessary expenses for your idea of the Splash Shield.
Peace and Great Dishwashing, with a Vintage Maytag, Steve SactoTeddyBear & SactoTeddyRanger...
one and a half inch inner diameter hose will fit onto the bottom of the coupler. If you can swing the faucet close to the drain or disposer, the hose will confine any splashing.
