I found a picture of the first actual washer I can remember growing up with. It originally had the metal agitator. It was replaced later with a black bakelite agitator after the repairman broke it trying to remove it from the machine. I'm not sure what was wrong with it that brought the service call but after that I remember my mom would take the agitator off and let it sit on the lid to "dry off" so it wouldn't get frozen into place again. This sat in the kitchen of an old house we rented in Anoka, MN. The scene is one of me and my brother eating cake while my youngest brother only got a ritz cracker it seems. At least he was happy! By the way, I've never seen this model in anyones collection.

Robert- 1960 sounds about right. Since I was born in '59 and we lived in this house until '65. I'm going to look through more photo's and see what I can find. I know the dryer was a Frigidaire of around the same timeline with the light up clam shell control panel. It is against another wall out of sight in this photo. Scott- I lived in Anoka from birth until about '69, then we moved to Bloomington and lived there until my Mom decided to move us to Oregon in '76. I'll have to visit again soon as my brother still lives there as well as other relatives. | ||
