Well guys,
this afternoon I bought a Miele W 723 washer on eBay!
I don´t know how I should feel now because my parents won´t be impressed of the fact that I bought a washer without having asked them for the permission!
I remember arguing about that last year and my parents saying NO!
Well, I still am a bit happy of having my own washer, which I´ll of course pay from my own money!

So, here are some pictures of a Miele W 723, it isn´t exactly the one I bought but there were no more pictures than one in the offer.
So I looked for some others in the world wide web.

Programm Button

Well, what I really like on those old Miele washers is the opportunity to chosse between different temperatures.
On my AEG I only can chosse between 30,40,60 and 95°C.
On the Miele, I can choose between 30,40,50,60,70,95.
I think I´m going to use the 50°C cycle often for towels If my parents won´t make me sell the washer.

Soap Dispenser

I really like the soap dispensers of Miele washers!

Options

Buttons from the left to the right:
1. Door
2. half washload (I think my Miele doesn´t have that button, because it´s newer than the washer on the photos!)
3. no final spin
4. short wash
5. without prewash (mine only has "prewash")
5. delicates cycle (raised waterlevel)

Panel

..the "clock" on the right shows what the machine is doing.
I don´t know what that means in English, but I won´t find the word in a dictionnary!
This washer only spins at 1200 rpm, mine spins on 1300 rpm.
This model was built for a long time, so Miele changed some things and I think there are 4 different Miele W 723´S
The washer will be delivered any day next week, I think Monday!
Pictures will follow!

Wow that's a nice machine!!!
Yeah I know what's about parents and wanting a miele so badly. Dunno if I every should buy anything that big without their permission, as long as I will live in this house and studying of course:p

Congrats with THE MIELE

Very nice Miele! Is there no "rinse & spin" or "fine rinse" selection?

Post# 265120 , Reply# 7   2/15/2008 at 13:16 (5,907 days old) by lavamat78800 ()
Oh, yes...

the starching option, I think the machine does an final rinse and then spins out.

Post# 265124 , Reply# 8   2/15/2008 at 13:52 (5,907 days old) by askomiele (Belgium Ghent)

Or you select a program... start the machine... switch the program back to stop, let the "clock" turning untill it reaches the final rinse... switch back to any program and the machine will do a final rinse!

Got it. You can do the same with the Novotronic models, just have to watch the blinking lights!

Nino,

Congratulations! I hope you can keep it. I love those rapid advance timers (clock as you said). My AEG dishwasher has one too.

BTW Peter, are you sure your Novotronic can do that? Mine doesn't, when you turn it to stop there are no lights blinking, it resets itself immediately.

foraloysius I know for sure that a novotronic can do it! I tried it several times with the mieles at school! Very usefull if you just want to rinse but get the super high spin speed!

Hi guys,

my parents allowed me to keep the washing-machine and they even wasn´t angry on me.:)
They just asked "For what do you need it?" and "Does it really work?".
Well, they aren´t in the mood to scream because a friend of them died this morning.

Nice machine!! There is nothing like a Miele washer. They are well made and built like a tank. Not many manufacturers build them like that today. This machine might be your last for a long time. Enjoy!

This machine might be your last for a long time...

I don´t think so! I still have my 3-years-old AEG with drum bearing failure and the AEG will be replaced with a new Miele.
Did I already tell you that the washer I bought was only used for 7 years?
But it´s still over 15 years old!

Okay, the washer will be delivered on wednesday at 5 pm.

I´m desperated

Yesterday, the machine arrived and I was very happy!
I started the first washload and noticed, that the drum wouldn´t start to tumble, well, it was only shaking.
So I started the spin cycle which started after the machine was sahking for 5 minutes.
So, I did a boilwash wíthout anything in the drum which worked very well...so I did one more with towels, also worked very well...
Well, 2 hours ago, I tried to do a load of linens..the machine is almost doing nothing and it doesn´t spin at all.
I´m in the mood to cry!

Sounds like the brushes in the motor is bad.

Hey Ho!

I finally got the machine work!
I ran the spin cycle 3 times problemless and the machine is performing much better.
I think the new brushes hat do get used to the machine ;-)
Well, the machine is doing a 60° wash with towels...pictures will follow!

BTW: I saved up laundry for 2 weeks, so there is a lot of work for the Miele! LOL

Programmablauf = program progress

(like saying they put the "S" in STUBBORN). Obwohl meine Ururgrosseltern haben vor 150 Jahren nach Amerika immigriert, sind sie noch so dochkopfisch wie die deutschen.

Nino,

Congratulations, how wonderful your Miele is working properly now! I wish I could hear the sounds of the clicking timer, Novotronics don't have that. That's the only disadvantage of my machine. I hope you have lots of fun with it.

Passatdoc,

Were your ancestors fish? I think you meant "dickköpfig".

Post# 266314 , Reply# 25   2/23/2008 at 13:11 (5,899 days old) by passatdoc (Orange County, California)
well maybe

If it put two F's in it, then it would be Dickkopffisch. Oops, proper spelling must be dickkopfig. Hell, at least I put the verbs at the end where they belong. I am using a laptop from Sweden which gives me ö and ä but no u-umlaut and no eszet. Scheisse!

But it's true....my relatives here are not crazy. They are normal....for Germany. And while the Dutch are known for their love of complaining, Germans are known for being STUBBORN. Like Lavamat's parents. There are only two ways to do something: their way, or THE WRONG WAY.

Passatdoc,

I wouldn´t say that my parents are "dickköpfig", but they think that such an old washer uses way too much water and we wouldn´t need a second washer.
But I don´t have the time to do all the laundry on the weekend with only one washing machine.

Louis,
thanks for the congratulations.
Today I noticed that the Miele still does NOT tumble properly, but it´s much better than on the first load I did with it.
I could figure out that the "leistungselektronik" does not work properly. Flushing the dispenser, tumbling and heating is too much for the electronic.
But as soon as the there is enough water in the machine it works perfect!

gute Idee

I think it's a great idea to have two machines. Even more so in Europe, where the machine capacities are lower. I know a few people in USA who have two pairs...these are people with four children whose time to wash clothes is limited. One family I know has two Frigidaire 2940 washers with dryers stacked on top of each washer.

Leider haben wir kein Persil hier in Amerika. Ach, was wissen die Amis von Saubermachen?

Well, the Miele will go on a journey!
The seller will repair it for free, he also pays the costs for delivering.
