Hello: Does anyone know if the Maytag New Generation centre-dial dryers ever had a drying rack available as an accessory? My dryer is an LDE608 (almond, electric, electronic sensor). There are new Maytag dryer racks available on eBay, but no one seems to know if these will fit older models. It sure would solve some problems around here if there was a dryer rack for my model... | ||

A look at RepairClinic didn't turn anything up, but a Google search turned up this rack on PartsQuik. The page says that this rack is intended for "Maytag, Magic Chef, and Admiral dryers that have less than 10-digit models". I assume they mean less than 10-digit model numbers; that would be right for an LDE608. However, the rack (pictured below) doesn't look to me as if it would work; I don't see anything in the dryer's drum to accomodate the rack's holding pins. Does anyone know anything about this? I'm also supplying a link to the PartsQuik page.

Sorry...
There is no mention of a drying rack for the '08 series in the service & parts doctrine from Maytag, nor was they any mention that I could find in the monthly service updates ("Let's Talk Service") index. The brochure I have for the '08 series makes no mention of a drying rack either standard with the TOL model or as an accessory. The rack you linked to would be for the newer, Norge/sAdmiral/Tragic Chef dryers with the filter centered in the drum opening on the straight edge. I doubt it would work with your dryer having the filter off-center at about the 7-8 o'clock position in the round opening. I have noticed the notches at the back of the drum in these machines for the rack supports. | ||

What you're saying makes perfect sense; the prongs at the left side of the rack in the pic look as if they're designed to fit over a centered lint filter. My 608 does have the seven o'clock position for its filter. What's odd here is that the upper-series 'Tags were so feature-laden; you'd think they'd have made a rack. Sears had them for LK's, I'm certain of it. Thanks as always for your expertise; I think you've forgotten more than I'll ever know about 'Tags! | ||
