Hi all.

I have just been going through Ebay France, Germany, Italy and Belgium, to see what interesting makes are out there.

The first from Germany came up with loads of hits. Loads it seems from the mid 80s. Privleg seems to be from the Zanussi range. This is certainly and old machine from at least the 70s.

Now one of the drum. This is exactly the same as my Zanussi S218T circa 1981

Now a later model, I guess from the mid to late 80s. Like I said there were loads of these on Ebay Germany and from this era. Were they very popular over there?

A make called Elite, looks like it may come from the Bosch/Siemens group

This is a Siemens Siwamat, early 80s I'd say!

Now a famous Zanker known as AEG in the UK. I loved these machines and they were so quiet with their induction motors.

These are just a few of what's out there. Does anyone have any pics of makes out in Europe we don't have in the UK?

Rob

ROB and MRX

Dear Rob,

On my site, you can see washing machines you don't have in UK. I Think of, for example, Flandria, Brandt, Thomson, Candy, and so on.

Dear MRX,

Brandt, the most famous French brand of appliances is not French now, because unfortunately it was acquired by the group Fargor. It's just a name...

Hi Bert and MRX

Thanks for your responses. I was just bored at work and thought I would look through foreign Ebay's and see what was out there. They definately have some great machines, especially in Germany. I was amazed at how many Privileg's there were. I don't remember them being that well made. On 800rpm late 80s Zanussi's used to rattle like anything!

Rob

In Ireland we had some models that never appeared in the UK because of different supply chains and also because Ireland used 220V 50Hz (same as Europe) rather than 240V 50Hz (Same as UK) (This is all now standardised at 230V)

There were certainly a lot more older German machines here e.g. Waschmeister (not sure who made those) was pretty common at one stage. There were quite a lot of Siemens, Bosch and AEGs around too. We have a 1970s Siemens Washer-Dryer in a shed at home. It's been sitting there for many years... Quite a cool looking machine though.

But there are certainly a LOT of nice machines in the old days that were never seen outside their home markets, many of the UK ones included in that. It's just because we're on an English speaking site you will mostly hear things from a UK/Ireland perspective when it comes to EU matters.

the Zerowatt

If more modern machines looked like that I'd be much more interested in them. It's a wonderful looking machine, a modern take on the square door Hoover. I doubt it has the third of the way up the door rinse water level though =[

It seems the Waschmeister machines may have been produced by Siemens (or BSH Group)

Great Pictures!
I love the ZANKER! I looks like it means business! Is it a good machine?
