Triton dishwasher that makes a grinding/grumbling noise during the wash? Its not the motor or anything its the feed tub in the back that makes the noise the one for the top rack shakes.Get one of thoese Nylon ties and tie up the feed tube for the top wash are on the rack just snug it up and make sure its tight on the rack but still goes in the feed from the back.

Are you sure it is not the "Pirana"(sp) food disposer. My GE Nautilus a grind/growl about mid way though the drain cycle.

This Fix is only for the Triton G.e. Dishwashers. They have three Wash arms and for the drain the have a little tiny pump that does not have any grinder in it at all.If it has a tower of any kind for the wash then this is not a fix.I have never had one like yours but if its only during the drain it could be the grinder.I have three Family memebers and they all had a G.e. tall tub and during the wash it would make a grumbling/grinding sound that sounded like motor going out.

The Nautilus and Triton XL machines are fundamentally different. The Nautilus machines do not have a direct feed mid and top wash system.

The Nautilus will make a growl in the drain period probably due to cavitation.

The Triton XL machines DO have that piranha disposer, but, the screens are so thorough that large food never gets to it. Therefore, it almost has nothing to grind.

The growling on the Triton XLs is indeed the mid wash arm conduit vibrating. The tube that feeds the conduit has a little washer on it. After much in and out of the racks the washer wears down. Zip tie the mid level conduit so it's snug and it'll stop vibrating.
Or if you're more mechanically inclined and daring, find a similar o-ring to replace the worn one.

Thanks to AW.org a month or six weeks ago, I can testify that the zip-tie on a Triton XL works! GE factory authorized service told my mother and father that their 3-year old machine needed a new motor, as the bearings had failed. The service guy then said it probably wasn't worth the investment. Absolutely disgusted, they went and purchased a KitchenAid, for $800. Later I talked them into installing a new motor instead of the new KA. That motor, on my account with an appliance parts dealer, was still $128.

Seems mom's dishwasher motor must have magically healed itself with the presence of that zip tie. We have not heard the vibration since, but it was doing that, and loudly I must say, at the time I put it on, and on every load. They use that machine every other day or so, so I'm guessing it has been run at least 20 times since the "repair".

I think this repair idea would apply to any GE tall-tub machine that has the center wash-arm with conduit running underneath the upper rack. I have a slightly older, but lesser used Profile Tall Tub that is of similar design, but was not growling quite as loud. Nearly every home in my 54 house neighborhood has this same model, so I will be posting the zip-tie suggestion in our neighborhood newsletter. We'll see what I get in response.

Thanks again AW.org! We saved my folks $800!
