I would like to know...The difference between the Unimatic,Multimatic and Rollermatic. I believe I have the chronology correct. I think. I have noticed the difference in Pulsators, but is it all in the transmissions ? I have an offer to pick up a 1-18. Would that be a rollermatic ? And is it a Rapid Dry ? I always had a passion for Fridgidaires,I took apart a Unimatic as a child and destroyed it.(I'm killing myself now). Sitting on a curb, around 1962,. Anyway, are they high maintnence ? It's in great shape and I want to take care of it. Suggesstions ?

I hope you are able to snatch up that 1-18. They are very good washers! |

Would it be possible to use a 59-62 clutch on my 63 custom imperial to bring the spin RPM's back up? Yes, but those clutches were prone to trouble, although on the two 4 speed multimatic washers that came through my collection, I had no issue with the clutches once I get the belts adjusted properly. Of course finding one is the biggest challenge. |

A week or so ago, Robert told us that the club really began in 2000, and that's the date of this post. Pretty neat. I understand every thing except the Rollermatics, and can't quite get my head around rollers driving the transmission. Is there another lost thread that could explain this. Would love to be able to see and know how the Roller really goes!! |
