Just thought I would mention that I was at an estate sale today and they had a 1951 Bendix dryer. I didn't take it but if someone out there is really interested it could probably be yours. Let me know. Here is a picture of the same vintage that Decodriveboy bough last year.

This dryer is hard wired in the house, and it works and looks great. She didn't have another so this is the one that was in use.

blue light?

Does this Bendix have the blue "ozone" light? I can't remember the trade name for it. We had one growing up with the light. Also--we used to get IN it. We must have been tiny. Still, I think we broke it. A boring Whirpool replaced it.

hello Toggle

Manhattan here--Village (make all the jokes you want...) since 1979. Making do with stacked Bosches these days. Not as exciting as the Laundromat or the blue-light Bendix of my New Orleans childhood, but the washer window is a pleasant reminder of youth.

I was thinking about this dryer the other day - did you get a couple of pics of the vent pipe on this dryer? It looks squared instead of round...very interesting.

Well, this is not the exact dryer, just the same vintage and look. I didn't have a camera with me. It was in the basement, and it did light up inside when I opened the door. I would have grabbed it if it was a set, but the washer was long gone.
