I noticed in today's paper that Haier's Genesis top load washer is $399 at Big Lots. The machine hit the U.S. market at about $800 last year. I wonder if it is being discontinued, as is a lot of Big Lots' merchandise. (I remember seeing an ill-fated Whirlpool upright vacuum cleaner there years ago.) The Genesis didn't fair too well in CR last February, ranking 39 of 42 washers tested.

There's a Big Lots in a nearby town. I haven't been getting that direction very often of late, but it's something to check out next time I do get there.

I saw the Haier washer and dryer at Big Lots yesterday. I thought the washer looked cheap. The lid seemed to be very light metal and there is this flimsy plastic cover that snaps on the opening of the wash tub. Also the dryer looks to be a carbon copy of a Frigidaire. The dryer door opens downward like the Whirlpool hamper door.

Saw their 24" (60cm) DW in a discount (Odd-Lots-type) store's flyer/brochure/advert as well.

I've occasionally seen upright freezers (Haier, I think) and they had some F&P laundry about a year ago.

THink most of the domestic mfgrs have a better channel for that kind of overstock handling
