Now that the motor problem has been solved, and the machine is in a state of disassembly.....I decided to do a full bore restore.

While the tub was out I figured I'd give it a bit of a cleanup:

well...look what I found....

A couple of pinholes right above the mechanism. After a good working over with a wire brush, I filled in the areas

The other areas are good and firm with no penetration.

Now the next step is AW.O's saving grace. Where would our wonderful appliances be without the ever-popular, immortalized in song and stage, the highly coveted.....

Thank You SaltySam!!!!!

Mark gratiously sent me a handfull of tub screws. I was able to drill out the remains of the broken two and retap and replace them.

I owe ya Mark.

While I had the POR-15 out....

I treated the rusty support brace. Yeah, I know...you won't see it, but I'll know it's there.

Where can this stuff be bought? I'm absolutely certain I will be needing it in the future when I restore my GE's. I understand it's a miracle worker! Thanks!

POR-15

I bought mine at an automotive body shop supply store.
Two things they stress:

1) wear gloves, because if you get it on yourself, ONLY TIME WILL TAKE IT OFF
2) see thing #1
