All will go to the best offer. 1953 westy twins. washer needs transmission. Dryer wired for 110 and works great. 1949 Kitchenaid KD-10 Stainless racks works fine Gravity drain. 1949-50 Hotpoint dishwasher front opening topload hybred works as obout a year ago. Too bad I don't have the money, space, time, or mechanical inclination, 'cuz I'd love those Laundry Twins!

silverware baskets

In the DW's posted in here (the HP and the GE) how do you place the silveware? Up or Down? I know the KA you place them up. Sure wish I had one of those KA's.

The GE reminds me of my next door neighbor, who had a tourquis MM in her kitchen, and she let me open the lid and smell inside. It was that old "cascade" smell--the detergent and bleach kind of smell. I LOVED IT!!! I never asked her how it worked.

That was when I was about 8 years old and I used to snoop around people's houses to look inside their basement windows to see what kind of W and D they had. Mostly KM's and GE's, but one military family across the street had the slant WH twins, they shipped them to Topeka KS, no less. Go figure. I would have thought that they could have gotten them in the US.

GE's instructions said that you could place everything handles up in their silverware basket, just vary the contents of each section to prevent nesting. The exception was the positioning of large cooking spoons, spatulas, etc. which were loaded with the handles down through the 5 rectangular openings. Large knives were to be placed in the top rack.
