~This set was used 8 years by our family and they both still work like the day they were purhased.

..and for 20 years by the family that was here before us.

I usually only like the 50's and early 60's stuff, but have to admit, these are very nice! Still too new for me though. Hope someone here wants them, as they are unusual.

Hi Steve, I think these are only about 20 years old or so, as the washer is direct drive. (1986 on up) At any rate, they are clean as can be, so they must have been well cared for and/or had limited use. I think they are well worth $400.00

I believe these may be circa 1988. Gorgeous set.

Have a good one,
James

I got the same set new in '95 or '96 so they are 12 or so years old. Great set, love them.

Thanks for enlightening me Rick! :-)

I remember my mouth dropping open when I first saw that model in Sears. Those electronics are very cool and intuitive.

Black Lady Kenmore Direct-Drive Electronic Set......

"rickr"

Actually, these could be a lot newer than that (and in any case, they'll would be too new for this forum), but they would be a set that I would add to my collection if I were collecting vintage machines. But again, these are too new to be considered vintage.

But now, as for the age of these machines, while it is true that the original version could be 20 years old, I don't see that being true for these units here. Actually, the first version of this machine came out in 1989, so that would make it about 19 years old this year.

These actual machines???? I am going to say mid-to-late 1990's easily (and anyone here can correct me if I am wrong). The "Kenmore" logos on these machines are the clear giveaway. These machines could even very well not even be 10 years old yet. This set was made until 1999, which was then replaced by the first Kenmore Elite, the Catalyst.

Very late 1996, early 1997

If you look inside the tub, the new tub hole design came out late fall of 1996, for my basket holes are straight and not in a wave formation like below.
So this makes them 11 or close to 12 years old.

What's missing in this photo?

Larry it looks like the cover that goes over the dspensers and tub opening is missing.

These black sets always looked so nice with the high-gloss surface and the light. Wouldn't a Maytag A806 have looked good in black with the lights on? I would Photoshop a picture and make one, but I don't have Photoshop.

I agree that the tub has the new style holes,
Dave

I bought this set in 1996. Made Sears buy them back after 4 service calls in 5 months.

Black sets:

I concur on how great these black Kenmores looked. Especially with the contrast of the white interior.

I have never seen a black Maytag A806, at least I don't think I did. I remember at the age of 5 seeing a very dark colored Maytag in the appliance section of a local department store. It was a store we visited quite often, so I got to see it a few times. The washer was so cool with the dark exterior, and white interior. I fell in love with it. Then the day came when I did not see it anymore. My father explained that some people bought it. I remember thinking how lucky the washer's new owner was to have it, and being ticked off that owner was not me.

Have a good one,
James

New Style holes:

My brother bought a Kenmore washer with the older style hole pattern in 1995. Therefore this has got to be newer. My parents bought one in 1999, but the control panel style looked different in addition to the fact theirs was a 90 series with knob controls. This set has got to be a 1996 to 1998 issue.

There is a pair identical to this in Atlanta for $180 - see the other Forum. Also see my comments about the trouble I had with my washer, which was identical to this one.

The water deverter and the liquid detergent dispenser cup.

If using powdered detergents, both items must be removed and when using liquid detergents,
both must be in place to siphon into tub for main wash after pre-wash or soak cycle.

Also parts for the control panel is still available if needed replacement!

Production year from model #?

The seller posted the model number:

"The washer is model 110.26955691 and the dryer is model 110.76955693."

I know the coding changed over the years but doesn't that indicate '95?

Mine is 110.26954690, and it has the newer tub design.
