Okay, it's a 1-18 one day, and then a center-timer Maytag the next. It was parked out by the dumpster at work--I couldn't leave it!! My boss let me cart it home in her truck. And, you know the story--plugged it in, and everything works perfectly. Why do people throw these things away? The 10-minute regular cycle and 12-lb capacity tells me that it's an older machine, but I'll post photos this weekend. The label that would otherwise state the model and serial number is worn off. The Frigidaire is jealous. But they look so nice by each other!! :-D |

I finally found an imprint of the model number (and if the camera will COOPERATE, I'll post a pic tonight!). I wonder what year this is? This machine is hysterical because it's almost silent, and you can all but put a brick and a sock in the tub and it still won't go out of balance. While it's low on drama, the control panel is high on chic, so it's fun and loved :-D |

Thanks, Steve and Venus! :-D Yes, I'm glad it followed me home, because the 1-18 is fun, but you have to have more than one machine around to make it a wash-in :-P Thanks for the info on the paint/porcelian, Chuck. That would explain the odd disparity between the top and the sides. It sure illustrates the durability of porcelain! So, Scott, Greg's favorite color is harvest gold? :-) That's cool--I like the color when it's still intact, as on our apartment's GE appliances. (Plus, the GE harvest gold was a tad lighter than Maytag's take on it--this machine's more toward the dark yellow/orange end of the spectrum.) I mentioned the "ick-tastic" aspect mainly because, if you saw it in person, you'd see how awful the cabinet looks compared to the top. (This camera is rather low-resolution and tends to make things look better than they really do. I'm keeping it for personal portraits down the road :-P lol). Thanks, everyone!! |
