I had a look at the manual of the washer and noticed what temperatures it uses. Extra hot is 67*C (153*F) Hot is 41*C (106*F) Warm is 31*C (88*F) Cold is no heating Especially hot is way too low to my likings. 106*F is more like warm instead of hot. The Sanitary cycle is the only cycle on which the extra hot setting is available. If you use the Towel/bedding cycle the highest temperature is also 106*F. Way too low if you want to get rid of dust mites! I wonder how many people with get mold in these machines because of the low temperatures. |

For the United States, hot water is pretty much 120F to 140F, with most hot water heaters set to the lower end of the range. Remember Americans by far prefer to use chlorine bleach for whitening, stain removal (where possible), and sanitising laundry, all of which can be done in any water temperature, even cold. Like all American front loaders, this machine runs on 120v, which pretty much limits heating ability to under 1200 watts. Even then it is going to take awhile to heat say 100F water to 153F. During all that time the laundry is being tossed about inside the machine which can lead to increased wear. Still, will agree 106F is rather low for "hot" water. |

I'd be remissed if I didn't mention the actual retail price...$1,339 for the washer; $1,029 for the dryer. Add $250 apiece for the pedestals. Prices exclude sales tax. |

I went to Sears"The Great Indoors"and saw these beauties but--THEY'RE MADE IN KOREA!I was shocked and as I looked further on,I noticed the wash arms as well as the tubs look similar to the Samsungs.I did also notice the perferated arms had a removeable part that catches lint and diffeent objects as the laundry gets cleaned.

I had a feeling that they were Korean made. Amazing how some companies will whore themselves out. Never would have thought that Asko would do that as well. |

Asko is owned by the Italian Merloni company. Not exactly a guarantee for quality products.
