Reading through the appliance listings on craigslist can be entertaining at times...I didn't know they made natural gas dishwashers!

Actually there was a gas dishwasher...preway, sponsored by the american gas assn. there was a thread a couple years ago. wash arms were on the sides of the tub, there was a small water tank heated by gas (!)

The water was heated in the sump by a combustion tube that ran diagonally from back to front with a spark plug for an igniter, which is why there was not a wash arm mounted in the center of the bottom of the tank. Everything was offset to allow for the burner tube. It exhausted the heat at the toe panel level. After the 180F rinse, the door was opened a few inches by a small motor to allow things to flash dry. Unless well sealed, counters with a wood or pressed wood base above the opening did not do well with the hot steam treatment.

I wonder if they could have used the KA drying arrangement with the covered vent and had the burner exhaust through the tank and recover more of the heat.
