I was in Lowe's yesterday and noticed a dishwasher on display. The brand name was Electrolux. Upon inspection, I noticed that it was identical to a Bosch -- the racking, the wash arms, it even questioned "Is it running?" referring to the silent operation.

Is it Bosch? Or is it Electrolux? Has anyone else seen this?

Does Electrolux make Bosch? Or does Bosch make Electrolux?

Jerry, Bosch may be making it for Elux. I mean, the Bosch factory is right there in the Carolinas.

Bosch lost the contract with Sears for the model they produced for Sears when Whirlpool started selling its HE UltraWash system. So, I'm sure Bosch went looking for another brand to produce for to recover some of the lost volume. Although, I just looked at the Elux online manual and it doesn't look like a Bosch to me. And the water consumption for heavier soiled cycles is much more than Bosch uses. Elux could be producing it themselves since they aleady produce dishasher.

heh, that's funny, cuz i saw an Electrolux 1200 dollar machine at my Lowe's that has the Maytag jetclean system inside it.
Identical to maytag in every way.

The ELux ProLine is made by Maytag, their new line is their own, similar to the Frigidaire dw design.

Thanks, guys

It's sure interesting how different brands are marketed when they are obvoiusly made by someone else. However, if the quality of the Electrolux brand of washers and dishwashers is as good as their old vacuums, it'd sure be worth looking into.

Appnut, the Bosch factory is here in the Carolinas??? Wow. Where? Might be worth a trip to see if they have tours.

Thanks for all the input.

bosch, poor dishwasher

i am on my second bosch dishwasher in three years. the first was a bosch, and my dishes were just never lean as compared with other d/w i had in the past. more importantly, there was an odor of dirty dishes, once the cycle was completed... i tossed it out and replaced it with the elite d/w, only to find out that too was produced by bosch. SAME issue with that one.. it is something i have decided not to live with, so that one is going as well.. that machine cost almost a thousand dollars.. so good for bosch for loosing the elite work for sears.. does anyone have a suggestion as to what machine i should buy? simply want my dishes clean and odor free..

If you didn't like the Bosch, try a Maytag/JennAir or one of the GE tall tubs. You don't have to spend a fortune for clean dishes.

Were you getting a lot of garbage in the Bosch's filter after running a load? That would certainly explain the odor.

I actually did see the Electrolux ProLine at Lowe's today. It does have a very similar wash system to the current Frigidaire. One mod. is that it has this little "fine" filter chamber that sticks up through big "E"s famous tub floor screen.

Next to it was an LG. I was shocked to see the LG machine with a top mounted horizontal fine mesh filter with NO guard.
All it takes is one knife or spatula, and there goes the screen.

The new Electrolux DW is made by Frigidaire believe it or not!

When I installed it at work I flipped it over and the pump and motor say Frigidaire on them. the Bosch made units have a sealed base. The Electrolux also has an exposed heating element the Bosch does not. It is the first Frigidaire stainless tub! Maytag manufactures the Icon DW for Electrolux (for now anyways)

I own a late model Frigidaire refrigerator from 2005. The Electrolux version is basically the same but with a steel exterior and some digital bells and whistles. Interior about the same as Frigidaire. It's clear they come from the same factory but the Electrolux model has additional luxury features.

Bosch Plant in SC

The Bosch plant in North Charleston, SC makes airbags and brake systems not appliances.
