A while back there was a post that said to 'stay away' from the Maytag 3 rack dishwashers. I cannot find a reply as to why to avoid them? Any information?

Gary

Maytag Mayham

They're junk, and the middle rack design is a crammed one at that ,resulting in lower overall capacity than a good two rack machine.

As much as the 3rd rack would come in handy for shallow baking pans and such, I would rather have more height between the racks in a 2 rack dishwasher. Plus the main wash arm has the strongest spray, and that would be going to the 1st rack only, if loaded. I have the Kenmore Elite tall tub dishwasher and could not go back to a standard plastic tub machine. Just my 2 cents!!!!!!!!!!

the Kenmore Elite is a treat

The Kenmore Elite is FAR,FAR better, and holds alot more than the 3-rack circus does

They managed to fix the shaft seal problem (sort of). The early production models had shaft seal that would fail for no apparent reason. Now if something hard gets in the pump, it can chew itself to death. They are not the quietest machine in the world either.

I agree with mrcleanjeans about the 3rd rack. Ive noticed that most people are buying the 7600 because its a quiet series 300 without the 3rd rack.

Yes, my Kenmore Elite has a stainless steel tub. It is the BEST cleaning d/w I have EVER had.....and I've had quite a few!! Been thinkin' lately about the new model with TURBO-ZONE!

Another mega positive vote for the Kenmore Elite talltub! This thing seriously rocks!

It actually replaced a Maytag I never much cared for, albeit a 2 rack older design.

Mine is 665.16472300. It was the TOL model before they came out with that Turbo one, which was just a few weeks after I bought this one (last September).

"665" must mean KitchenAid in Sears speak, because I know this is a Whirlpool/KA built machine, and I was surprised when I went down to look up the number for you that it did not have a "110" prefix, which indicates Whirlpool manufacture as I understand it.

It's been some time since I've added a Thread Post, that I just realized that I started a new Thread, instead of adding my info to this Thread, sorry...
