David - My Grandmother had a set in white which was otherwise identical to these. They came with a place they built around 1973 or 1974. Ironically my mother and I were just talking about this last night. It could have been late 1972 as well. I can't exactly remember. GE made machines that looked like this for a really long time, but hers was an early one because the model home, which was only a year older, had a similar set with the older console styling. Later versions had red and orange print at the timer vs. white. |

Yeah, at one point I lived in an apartment that had been built in 1986, and it had a GE set very similar to this. |

We bought a TOL "P" set that year. A "Multi-Speed" with Automatic Bleach and Softener dispensers under the lid and a funky dry detergent dispenser that sat on top of the super filter-flo pan where the softener dispenser usually sat. Close to perfect except that it had the straight-8 activator(which sucked)and it squawked loudly when it agitated(lose agitator coupler?). Best dryer we ever owned--electronic control was right on the money, every time. Hate to admit this here, but this pair replaced a vintage 1947 Hamilton Dryer and a Frigidaire WCI-58. Oh well.
