Silicon makes it all better. The Wringer works!

I think just the opposite. The thing you learned is you can cut corners and not pay the consequences. If you are going to be fixing or restoring anything, it is important to learn patience. Filling the machine with water befor the recommended cure time was not wise. If it didn't hold you would have ended up with a big mess that you would have to try to correct later. Believe me, removing dried silicone is not an easy or fun task. What was the hurry? You have many years to enjoy that machine after it has been fixed correctly. I understand your enthusiasm for the machine but, learning patience will save you much frustration in the future.

I have done the same thing, not waiting long enough for things to dry, etc, and paid for it with frustration.

Be patient, the most satisfying jobs are ones that take time and patience.

Lecture over.

Good luck with your new machine

Greg

I know, I should have waited, but I needed to be satisfied I guess, I mean at least I didn't run it. It was only a 20 second long water test. I wouldn't have done it if I didn't think the silicon was not hard enough to handle that.

Lack of patience cost me a Maytag Twinnie and a Kenmore tabletop wringer...:(

I think patience is something you "learn as you go"; changing the drive coupler on the DD Kenmore and correcting the Westinghouse's knocking problem took time and have helped a bit as well. "The more, the better" is how I look at it...
