Just wondering, what is the Aberdeen farm?
I'm sure this has been discussed to death, but just wondering ,is it a municipal dump, private junk yard etc.
Did you have to pay for what you took out,can you still take appliances and does it still exist?

I guess I can reply to your message, alas, like you, I was too late entering this website and missed out on all the fun. I sooo wish I could have seen such a beautiful place! It is long since gone, all the old stuff hauled away to that awful crusher, etc.

Just a thought on places like the farm

With the current move toward becoming a greener society, and with steel scrap prices rising, the long-term prognosis for places like The Farm is not good. I'm not sure I have a good grasp for how many machines were at the farm in total, however in today's market a 225lb. washer can get $25 or more for reclaim value at a crusher. Consider how many of those were at the farm and how many potentially heavier fridges, etc., the value of that place today, just for scrap, would be huge.

So, that said, if anyone knows of a place even quasi-similar to the farm, it should be enjoyed - now. I've been to one place (posted a few pics a while back), probably 1% the size of the farm (where my recent Lady K came from) and it had 7 belt drive WP/Kenmores and a half dozen older center dial Maytags mixed in with lots of newer GEs, a few DDs, a few GE FFs and Hotpoints, etc. Funny that the belt drives are gone now, so are the Maytags, and I think someone snatched the Hotpoints recently. Another guy and I got the belt drives and someone into Maytags got most of those. Other than fresh arrivals, the stuff that is left at this place now would blow over in a strong wind they're so light-weight.

One thing is for sure - if I find any other appliance graveyards, I'll post pics!

Yes the state came in and made the owners clean the place up, all 7 acres went for scrap! But I did get some of my best machines from there, even though it was an amazing amount of time and work to get them restored.

LET THE TRUTH BE TOLD:

There was no Aberdeen Farm.

It was all an elaborate ruse, done with stock footage and photographs of various scrap heaps from around the country. It's AW.ORG's very own Roswell/Area 51!

I won't name names, but can you doubt for even a moment that a man who transforms innocent Unimatics into genetically-altered uber-machines would also have the technological ability to carry out The Great Aberdeen Farm Scam?!

Send money for further documentation.

Here's a shot of a few Katrina victims. 390,000+ total, according to the blog.
