I have a WWx223RBW2 BOL washer made in 95. It works fine except when it begins drain/spin it makes a screeching noise, after all the water is out and it continues to spin, the noise stops. I ve taken off the front, it has a new belt. I have narrowed it down to the drain parts of the cycle. I am assuming the noise is coming from the pump. Anyone have any idea how to repair without replacing the pump?

I have a similarly built Frigidaire top loader from 1991 that does the same thing. It only squeals at the beginning of spin drain and once it gets up to speed it's perfectly quiet. You would think it would be coming from the belt but it doesn't sound like a squeaky belt. I did some research and was led to believe the squealing noise is coming from the snubber which is the ring that the entire tub assembly sits on top of. It requires unhooking the springs that hold the tub down, lifting up on the whole tub and removing the snubber ring (2 people would be a good thing) and either cleaning it or replacing it.

Now I have not gotten around to doing this yet but I know the snubber is still available if it needs to be replaced. I was also thinking I would replace the belt at the same time just for good measure.

By the way, very interesting looking agitator you have in your machine. I've never seen that one.
