..was wondering if the Aberdeen Farm ever showed up in a satellite photo image, like Google maps. Just had a look but couldn't identify it - either looking in the wrong area or maybe it had been cleared before any photos were taken.
..anyone know..just wondering

..sorry if this thread is in the wrong place (buzzer sounding!)

My partner is currently threatening to create our own version on our 7 acres in Ogden... He's made a few veiled threats to toss my turquoise appliances out into the words! Clearly, the man does not share my passion for vintage appliances...

Yes, I had found it shortly after we visited it. It's a few miles due north of Aberdeen...

I saved that Peter!

Yes here is how it looked right around the turn of the century before it was taken down. This was probably the first public satellite picture available of the farm. It was located 10 miles north of Aberdeen just north of County Road 11 on Highway 281...

It looks like

something is still there. Automobiles and appliances I bet. My guess is the whole area either did not get cleaned up or it was repopulated.

Looks like they got mostly refrigerators out of the southwest corner. But it looks like there could still be alot of washers there on the south side of the barn... And it looks like the monument/pile is still there by that row of cars...

Memories...

Wow there certainly are some cars now, but the rows of appliances are starting again.

Sadly I'm sure this is more 80's and 90's DD Kenmores than anything. Once you scrap a place like that, the classics come in at a rate of 1 out of every 100 Amanatag/DD Kenmore/Frigidare front loader. A guesstimate at best, but the glory days of that place are long gone.

Yes those are applianaces and a few more cars

unimatic1140's profile picture
First of all we have no idea when these images were taken. It appears to me that if you compare the first picture to the third, the rows are exactly the same in the SE corner. It also looks like there are a few more cars there than before. Since the owners have moved into Aberdeen into retirement/assisted living facilities not much has changed. Since the emails have started, I called their old number and its been disconnected so anyone who wants to try and do research on this stuff is going to have to take a chance and travel out there. I have no other knowledge of how to contact any one there.

If you wish to find this on google earth zap to Aberdeen, SD and travel 10 miles north on Highway 281, its right north of the intersection of highway 281 and County Road 11.

Agreed Robert - it will take more than 1 trip out to the farm, just to start tracking down the owner. Then getting permission to walk the land is the 2nd battle. Been there, done that.

For the person looking for the minutes, here you go.

I found the farm and it's coordinates are

N45degrees,36'28.44" / W98degrees,30'54.36"

for those who are interested.

It was exciting to see such a place
