I didn't no That there were somany men out there interested in washing machines. I have always loved washers. I bought a maytag wringer of ebay in July of 2006, was told it was bought in 1940 only used 20 times, but it has patent dates on the back of it, last one is 1956. The serial # is 82011tx. I am hopping that I can find what year it was built?

O god yes, every one here loves washers! I too didn't realize there were other people like me until I found this site about 6 months ago. As far as your Maytag wringer goes, I am sure someone will be able to help you out. In the meantime head over to the "Maytag Collectors Club" (just google it), and email one of the moderators. They specialize in pre-automatic Maytags and will be able to give you a lot of information. This is how I got to know more about my Maytag wringer, which I found in the woods.

Hello there Earl,

Looks like your Model N was shipped out of Newton sometime in October of 1963. The T indicates 1963, and the X shows us that it was finished in production sometime in October. For those who do not have the chart - the conventional machines use a separate code than the automatics up until 1966 (1954 through 1965 anyway from the list most of us have).

There are plenty of men and women out there who appreciate older washers, dryers, refrigerators, ranges, air conditioners, televisions - the works!

Stick around for a while, I'm sure you'll see some more goodies in time.

Ben

If my date chart is correct, your wringer was produced in Dec. 1963. I have the parts breakdowns for it, too if you ever need them...

No worries, Ben. I had to look at the chart a few times, too. It just isn't layed out in the most helpful way with the automatic's months right next to the wringer's years...

And here's the line-up for 1968 ... well, actually, the only machine from 1968 is the Model J (middle one). The Model E (first on the left) is from 1982 and the Model N is from October 1983; one month before Maytag stopped making their infamous wringer washer ...

Here's my 1963 beauty ... I found her in brand new, unused condition.

To me,

there's just something wrong about a round tub Maytag wringer.

Hey Lawrence ... oh my ... that's too bad! I wonder what it is that you see as wrong? They were so very popular, too.

I really like my Model N's because they use 16 gallons of water and are perfect for my sheets, pillowcases, towels, etc.

If you notice in the shot with all 3, it is also the same height as the E and J.

No problem, here you go. The date code lettering for wringers only goes back to 1954 (if anyone has data for prior - please post!)

(BTW - is your N an N2LP - looks like a pump hose?)
