Hi, this is the Hotpoint 95622 which I found in an old ladies garden, I asked if I could have it and she replied yes get rid as it’s been out here for 18 months, so in the back of car she went, washer that is.

She was dirty and covered in green slime, so she had a bath and then test in the garden all seems will but the timer did not move on. Off with top and a close look at timer, and I can see with the machine running that the thermo stop device is stuck, dismantled and cleaned refitted, timer moves on to heater section and water warms, great. All went well till spin and we come to an abrupt stop, brushes are stuck so new ones fitted and away she went no stopping now.

For its age I have had to do nothing to this machine but clean and repaired timer and motor, the bearings are sound and not a speck of rust on any of the shell, trims in good order as well and even has the original liquid detergent dispenser in the draw, I found a chrome door as it would have had one.

Washed about 10 loads on all programs, much better wash than any of the other machines I have.

Old lady can not have used it much and looked after it well what luck I spotted it.

Now I want a 1978 Hotpoint liberator, I had one but as 15 year old my dad sent it and the others I had to the tip when I was at school, told we had not enough room for them!!

Welcome mr Hotpoint95622! That is lovely! I love that colour! I'm glad some of these old beautys are still kicking around. Alot better than current hotpoints obviously!

Will there be any shots of it action?:D:D:D I grew up with a liberator an a 95series hotpoint! Its great to see!

Currently about to do battle with indesit company to replace my 10month old WT960G. If i could find a spinslider hotpoint i would happily remove this one and put it in its place. ThThe only thing is i've gotten used to the bigger drum, i haven't had much time to use my older machines lately. Sadly.

Do you own any other machines atm?

Darren

Better Introduce my self,

hotpoint95622's profile picture
My name is Lee

I also have an Zanussi WDT1085 washer dryer which was given to me by a good friend, I had to repair the power switch and clean condenser as it had been used as a dryer for some years, the day I collected it I walked in with tools in hand to be unplumbed, shock not plumbed in, god it needs to be plumbed in to work, the condenser was blocked with fluff and was so close to caching fire!! Drain hose fitted to a watering can!!
How could you treat it this bad. This is a good machine I like the fact that it is quite when spinning and good results, slow at drying.

And I have a Tricty Bendix AW1053W which is used as normal daily washing machine I have carried lots of repairs to this including a new drain pump, new thermostat I had the timer repaired and had to fit new motor after surge in power supply, damaged taco and timer, I like this machine a lot but the Hotpoint 95622 is now the best.

I have 2 dishwashers, one is Tricity Bendix and the other is Zanussi, the Bendix is used daly and I have repaired this lots toooooo..

Thanks.

How do Lee

You are telling porkies about the finding in a garden thing. Back in 1984/85 you went out, as a 10/11 year old, and bought that 95622 from Comet, kept it in its box in your room and disguised it as a chest of drawers.

MY GOD MAN - its superb!!!!!!!

I love it - having not seen an almond New Generation since my parents was disposed of three years ago, I had forgotten just what a classy colour it was.

The machine you have is pristine and it is wonderful to know that, within our small fraternity, both versions of the variable new gen are safely preserved.

Incredible that the sidestrips are fully intact - they always did look great on almond machines - a nice finishing touch. Having seen mine and robs 95620 without them, personally speaking, I think for the white machines they can manage without them.
Thats not to say that when me and Rob shack up together and the 95620 gets a semi permanent home, it wont be refitted with them. Until that time comes, it can manage without - i think?!

The upsetting thing with your 95622 is that my parents 95452 was, pretty much, in the same superb condition when it was disposed of. I asked my dad, over the weekend, whether he succeeded in cracking the facia as he got it out of the house. He said 'no - I was careful with it'. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh - the pain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If me and Rob ever take our 95620 back to Cardiff, for any reason, we will have to drop in and have a variable new generation reunion!

Realy thrilled at seeing your 95622 - it is a wonderful looking machine. As ever with New Gens - be careful if you have to move it. It will crack on you if you arent uber careful.

Welcome to the club once again and thanks for sharing.

All the best to you and does your dad quite realise that, in throwing away your Liberator, he quite possibly made one of the biggest mistakes in his life!

If not - tell him he did!!

All the best.
Cheers
Paul

I totally forgot that i have the technical service info book for this model! It covers the 9540, (which i'd love to own), the 95620 and the 95622!

Its cool, it tells you how the programmes should operate and with what water level, what amendments were made throughout the years as they came out and the timer charts and parts diagrams! I also have one for the liberator toploaders! That one isn't in the best nick, i got it from my old boss and it had gotten damp, some of the pages are stuck together and such.

Welcome Lee,

Nice to have another collector so near, we are not that far from you.

Cracking machine they are, we are really pleased with ours and its scrubbed up well from the hellhole flat it came from.

Yours just looks amazing! Even though his nibs Paul has affections for the Almond version I do prefer the white one due to it being the version I remembered from being a kid - parents of my step aunt & uncles fiends (when they were teens) had the white model, I used to follow them to their house and get caught up in the kitchen playing with this while they laughed about what I was up to. It never once fazed me as a 7 year old.

MAde a change from playing with my Grandparents Servis Quartz 600 and 206 Multivent.

Sometimes you just gota sit play and watch them.........

lol

Thank you for the warm welcome, I thought that I was the only weirdo who watches washing machines and likes working on them, now only to find a good woman to share it with, so far most have run a mile, Not good when I strip then just for the cloths to wash!!! still thank you.

I will try to do some more photos of the Hotpoint working ASAP and perhaps some of the zanussi repairs as well but not promising on that as it’s in storage, I have moved back in with the parents at the moment.

Lee
