There's something new at the LG website: A 4.5 cu. ft. TOL washer. And in keeping with GE's move toward an oddly-shaped door with huge chrome effects, LG offers a big square door. Reminds me of the over-size wrist watches that were popular for a bit, but now appear ridiculous. I'm not sold on the aesthetics of these new door designs.

Wow 4.5 ft! Anyone know how many pounds of laundry this would equate too? And yes, the square door is UGLY, just like the GE's. |

The list of features Frigilux posted specifies a "Dry Linen Capacity" of 10.1 kg. That's the equivalent to 22.44 lbs. |

I change my mind, the square door is kinda of growing on me... the GE door however, still sucks. |

That square door lends a nice retro look to the machine, IMO. |

I think the washer's original design was more balanced and aesthetically pleasing. The new door just looks too large for the size of the cabinet, especially with the huge chrome trim. It's so large that it intrudes into the space reserved for the control panel. Too garish. Here's an example of the old look; It sports the eye-catching chromed door, but it's a more gracefully-proportioned design. |

I'd much rather watch a washer than watch most TV programs |
